Lately I 've seen around different shops, Black and Decker eqipment for sale , different stuff like gardening tools and steam cleaners etc. All appear cheap and to be made in China.
I am wondering if Black and Decker are still Black and Decker these days, or are the bought out, and is the quality still there?
As they had a reasonable reputation yes? no ?

I can't speak from experience on the B&D brand, but the same company owns Stanley and I bought one of their knives the other week.

I've used the same model Stanley knife my whole life, and I was shocked at how terrible the quality of the new one was. The retractor mechanism for the blade was so poorly-fitting that it was a genuine safety issue.

I assumed it was a dodgy batch and took it back, but the replacement was exactly the same. I've gone back to using my Dad's old one he bought 30 years ago.

Merged with Stanley in 2010, and while some items still manufactured in US and Europe, majority of range is produced in China these days

Used to deal with Stanley Healthcare for medical carts and storage units
This style of stuff: https://pdf.medicalexpo.com/pdf/stanley-healthcare/drawer-carts/78323-77511.html

Again, large chunks of the ranges Made in PRC

(Medical Office is in a good part of the world though ;))
