Black Cab

Last night I saw Black Cab at Northcote Social Club and was utterly blown away. These guys are a criminally under rated Australian band - world class musicians.

Dark and psychedelic and definitely rocking... think of a melding of the best bits of Comets on Fire, Spiritualized and Joy Division and you'll be getting somewhere close to the mark.

They have a few shows coming up and a new album due out in a couple of weeks - I suggest you check them out.

Altamont Diary is one of the best releases of the last decade. Brilliant album.

Yep damned fine night! Black Cab were awesome and BJM were in pretty good form (apparently they were shit on Sunday night).

Great to see Black Cab nominated for the Australian Music Prize for their latest album Call Signs.

My comment about the Sunday night BJM performance were based on a mate at work who is a massive BJM fan who went to the Sunday night show.

He was very disappointed - he said they gave the impression of not wanting to be there, yawning and just going through the motions. He said they played OK but clearly just wanted to get the hell out of there. Also it was a much shorter set than the Saturday show from what he said. They were on stage for a bit over 2 hours at The Hifi and having an absolute blast.

and as for the band not wanting to be there, they played one more song then sat night and a encore which they dont normally do.
