im not a huge black metal fan, ild rather death, melodic, and folk metal
Melodic death metal has begun to lose its appeal for me. Outside of Carcass' Heartwork Im really not the fan of the genre that I used to be

Same for me. I'm also a big fan of progressive metal. Good black metal is hard to ignore though.

I assume you guys are huge fans of Agalloch? :thumbsu:

Agalloch is gold. Them and Windir are probably my favorite folk metal bands :thumbsu:

I like what you might call 'melodic' Black Metal. Some of my favourite albums of the past coupla years have been the last Old Man's Child, Project Hate and Sydney band The Amenta. Wanna check out more of this kinda stuff.

immortal
darkthrone

Zyklon? Theyre straight up death metal. Or were you refering to Zyklon-B?

The Furor's guitarist is a midget isn't he... ;)
and he wears a stupid hat. not a fan myself, although the drummer's not bad (singing at the same time etc)

I like the more dm influenced stuff personally (emperor, behemoth, marduk, etc).
still got a soft spot for early cof too.
good call with the amenta too.

stuff like burzum puts me to sleep (despite the fact that the production = toilet).
imo, folk+corpsepaint = wtf?!

haven't heard agalloch - what do they sound like?

Don't mind bits of it, but can't take it in long doses. The over the top, tinny production and childish corpse paint make it all seem a little silly.

Heavy Metal > All other Metal.

Their early stuff (Pale Folklore) is Black Metal with folk influences with some wispy black metal voices.

It's best if you start with their best album so get Pale Folklore.
You can check out the song that hooked me into them, on their myspace account (Dead Winter Days) - http://www.myspace.com/agalloch

Their 2nd album is more slower, doomish folk metal. And their latest album, is more kind of rock folk metal.

I listen to a bit of black metal, love it when they incorperate Orchestral bits into their songs. DOn't know why but the contrast of the vocals, guitar and orchestra just work for me
