Dear Blackie

I'd like to apologise for writing you off after your failures in this years Miracle Mile / Victoria Cup. Clearly you were just not at your top and nowhere near finished.

Today you elevated yourself to the position of undisputed all time champion of Harness Racing in this country (and possibly across the ditch too).

And you did it the hard way, three wide on a big track with an old sulky towing the best horse all season in to the race.

I take my hat off to you and your team.

Seriously, I got this terribly wrong writing him off and my pants have been well and truly pulled down an deservedly so.

What a run, the vibe around the track was that Nat was very relaxed and super confident and that was played out in the run. Monkey King could have had the Concord but he still was never going to get past him.

But for Auckland Reactor bbqing him last year he should have five straight.

That run was amazing, but Natalie has to take some credit too, she timed the run to absolute perfection, from a tricky position where he had to pop out 3 wide in front of Monkey King with about 1100m still to run.

And she didn't let MK out of the pocket till half way down the straight too, which made it impossible for MK to catch Blackie, no matter how good MK is.

The best 2 horses finished 1-2, was shocked by the 4.00 quinella, was on it for a bundle, so it covered my MK losses.

Did I hear right, $4.2 million in winnings, that would put him in the top 10 horses in Australian history wouldn't it, including thoroughbreds.

4.2 Mill, wow, it's a long way from $3,000 races in the bush.

Gratz to Blacky and everyone concerned, can't take anything away from the champ once again.

I feel so lucky to have witnessed the greatest standardbred to have ever raced in Australasia. In 5, 10, 20, 30 years time, we can proudly tell our Grandkids, we saw the great Blacks a Fake win 4 (why not another one next year) interdoms. Blacky, every person on this board salutes you and your humble team of champions. Yes, I was on Monkey King, but f**k I was teary when he won. What a horse!

Up there with the greatest australian sporting achievements ive witnessed. He is a real peoples horse. That many times ive been at the footy or at a pub with my mates and blackie has run and won, and we've all been on him, we feel like we own him.

Does anyone know where i could purchase a memorabilia plaque of Blacks A Fake?
