they werent specific about the details of the text messages, but kings brother sent blake some sms's after the GF loss last year.

must have been a little nasty, in the article i read blake was fired up.

on not shaking hands with king, blake said:

"I didn't probably get around to him [after the game] but I probably copped a few text messages from his brother after last year's grand final," Blake said.

"So it's good to actually stick it up his arse."

good for you, blake. very happy for him, and the other three who played in their first premiership: taylor, hawkins and varcoe. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Re: Blakey on the King rivalry...

Sounds like a fair c*** thing to do by Kings bro.

Blake played well today too. Thought he was better than both Gardiner and King in the ruck and around the game. Had an over the head handball in the last that was great. Kept composed for most of the day too!

Re: Blakey on the King rivalry...

**** King. Had no time for him today. He was a key part of Scarlo's wedding party but when Matty S waved at him at the grand final parade he refused to acknowledge him. I'm glad King lost today, and I hope he feels shithouse. w***er. Used to be my hero and I worshipped the ground he walked on, but now he's a bitter old man and has turned his back on those who made him what he was. Hasbeen of the highest order.

How do those sour lemons taste kingy

Kingy coming out publicly and saying he hates blake and blake winning the flag directly against king...must be a sweet feeling.

ah he ignored a wave at a parade...

right

Re: Blakey on the King rivalry...

I have nothing against Kingy, he practically got pushed out of te club because Blake wasn't man enough to face competition for his spot in the 22.

Re: Blakey on the King rivalry...

I thought the club made the right decision in 07 and that was vindicated yesterday, but disappointed that there remains so much outright hatred. Ah well, King hasn't done himself any favours since he moved in trying not to fan the flames - guess he got his serve yesterday.

See this is all rumour and I hate it. Geelong are a team running on a tight salary cap and King was a year away from being eligible for the veterans list.

People bagged Blake in 2007 for the way he went about the grand final.

He never came out and said anything in the public about his axing from the team and did all he could to help in the lead up to the 2007 grand final.

Re: Blakey and the King rivalry...

Don't have it in me to hate Kingy. Was nice to see him chatting on the ground with Enright before the game too.

Sounds like his brother is a tosser, though.

Agreed, Blake has handled himself with a lot of grace since that day. I don't think I've read a quote of him bagging King.

He's been derided by many Geelong fans, myself included, for his performance in last year's grand final and many games this year but I was so happy for him yesterday. Even if the club trades him now he'll be remembered as a premiership player.

King's brother sounds like a big big tosser. I wish there were none of this angst between King and Blake but such is life. Move on.

There is still no excuse for sending those sort of texts, now the shoe is on the foot. I wonder how Kingy would like it.

It was his brother mate, not him. Who gives a stuff, Kingy can't control it.

Re: Blakey and the King rivalry...

Dick brain Sam Edmund in the Sunday Hun says "Geelong ruckman has fired an extra-ordinary post-match sledge at rival Steven King in the wake of Geelong's incredible Grand Final triumph"

Only one problem Sam,Blake made no sledge at Steven King.It was his brother [Wayne ? ;)] King he sledged.

Well done Mr Bean, you're a Premiership player

Re: Blakey and the King rivalry...

King's brother sounds like a w***er, not sure about King himself.

All I am sure of is:

Mark Blake = worst premiership player of all time.

It is a true testament to Geelong as a football club that they thought they would go for an extra challenge... not just winning a premiership, but this time doing it with Blake! If Cats hadnt have got over the line, the dubious honour would have had to go to Dawson.

Next, you guys should draft Jordan Mc Mahon and see if you can win with him in 2010!

Blake plays his part in the team. He is no Cox but he gives the midfield the ball and is improving around the ground.

I think he played better than both Gardner and King yesterday.

Re: Blakey and the King rivalry...

Well we made King a premiership player sadly for him we were not willing to let him be a dual premiership player at the cost of us losing. Blake played 1 of his best games all season. I didn't pay to much attention to the actual hit outs but he had 2 or 3 kicks with at least 1 hitting a target was something new and shows that he is improving.

yeah it seems that king could of took a pay cut for a year but didn't which was disappointing. And disappointing that a former skipper of the club left but that's the way it goes l guess.

Nup! Bomber was with us when Wallace went to the Tiges. However, earlier Bomber chose the Cats over the Tiges. Very wise man.

BTW. That nuff-nuff Keenan had a dip at Blake on the radio during the week. At that time he indicated he still coached King and it was payback time. If I was King I'd quickly piss Keenan off and get someone who can actually help him.
