An interesting choice to say the least! Have known David and his family since prep - went to school and played footy at Abers with my son. He has not played footy since U16 (2000) and didn't really set the world on fire as the first half was spent playing Basketball with the Tigers. Spent last year in Cairns playing basketball and has been with Dandenong this year. Didn't play with the Cannons at all but I think was in their early underage squads. Is a talented all round sportsman and a really good kid (and a mad Cats supporter). His dad played a few games for Essendon in the 60s and was a legend at Williamstown. Related to the famous Fred. Hope he does well.

I wouldn't ever consider a resource at our disposal to be anything other than a resource capable of winning us a flag.
Sadly, others at the Club (and other clubs) see it as a "dead rubber". If they want to chance their arm then they should go and play crapps!

To be honest I don't see the problem. It's fantasy to think you'll get a decent return from anything but project players from a rookie list. You could go for a solid dependable type (Betheras for eg) but we are not trying to get off the bottom of the ladder any more. We are trying to unearth a player to make a good list better. What we need now are players who will add an x factor to what is essentially a workmanlike list of good players. A big ruckman would be a great get. They are rare as hens teeth. We should actually have rookied these types for the last few years rather than skinny nothing types. The best of both worlds is to carry a mix on the rookie list but in general rooking players that might make servicable battlers seems fit for the teams looking for numbers rather than match winners.
