Basicly saying the players are to blame for the crap they dished up last night and not Adam Simpson, like they only just realised how piss poor they are, saying foot skills need work is just one of a hundred things they need to work on. If they dont change something, this Hawthorn game is going to be a massacre

Interesting interview. Most interesting was the perspective given from inside the huddle. When asked about the perceived need for at least one star midfielder, Priddis's response was as much to say, '…we need depth..'. And went on to present the recent Collingwood game as proof that when everyone tries.. see what we can do.

My only hope is that the decision makers within the WCE are not crippled by this introspective perspective. I understand why someone like Priddis [who in my book is a genuine player and bloke] would have such a view. However, the mark of successful teams is that ability to look from the outside in.

Any objective review of the WCE's lineup would determine a team chocca full of good players… and most with excellent effort/attitude. However, such an analysis would also determine the simple arithmatic formula that applies to any A grade team competition - you need one or two exceptional players to make a good team into a Champion Team. Its that simple.

There is no need to denigrate individual players. Our team list is as good as any, bar the fact that we do not have that one or two exceptional/X factor player(s). Add a sprinkle of magic in the team that we already have and… we'll blast that door open!

Somehow i dont think a sprinkle of magic will do, the lack of skills and effort from the current group just isnt there. Priddis and Rosa bust there guts each game while Shuey, Wellingham, Gaff, Masten go missing or when they get the ball they cant hit targets or just bomb it to huge packs towards the boundry. Need to get hungry, dust off the rust and take the game on because i really think this group can do that

97% of people who quote posts go on to totally disagree with them.

I'm replying to your posts because I totally agree with what you're saying.

Nice to see there's another supporter out there who doesn't hate Priddis

You're exactly on the money.

This is why I started the need Nat Fyfe thread. Fyfe is an example, we need an A grade on-baller, and while I don't think we'll get Fyfe, you look at all the top teams and they've got one.

Add that A grader or two and imagine how much better Shuey, Selwood, Gaff, Wellingham, Masten will look.

Good post. I don't share your enthusiasm for where our list is at or Priddis as a part of the team going forward.

But I agree and think that the problem being is they are too insular. After the shit they copped for 2010, 2011 created the perfect backdrop to overrate our list and tell the football world "we told you so".
It annoys me that they use that Collingwood game as evidence and tells me they do pump their own tyres up. We lost and their midfield played 1 good quarter. Their forwards have been out of form White & Cloke and their defence was down Reid & then Brown after a short time. Its good to see some effort but "look how close we get when we try" is not good enough.

Since when was moral victories apart of our culture? i thought that a melbourne or st kilda thing?

You would never of had cousins or kerr talk like that

Has been happening for a few years now. After bad losses how many times has Cox or someone else senior come out after a loss like that and give the old "we know that isn't good enough and we let ourselves down we let the fans down and we are going to rectify that this week"? You can say that once or twice but then it loses all meaning.

Yeah Wellingham saying it was a "slap in the face" this weekend is just pathetic.

It's lip service to the media and unfortunately has been said before and nothing has come of it.
I'd have thought not scoring for 3 qtrs against Geelong, or being dropped, or losing winnable games all year would be a slap in the face.

At least Darling said it would be a kick in the guts. Hurts a bit more.

I've been impressed with a few things Adam Simpson has done- Bennell and Sheppard in the backline has worked really well, the introduction of Yeo and Darling to the midfield mix has worked ok as well. Given games to Tunbridge, Colledge and McGovern.

The real moment of truth will be in the drafting/trading period. He has to have a plan for how we're going to approach it, to fix the holes in our list. That's where the money is going to be earnt for a lot of our off-field staff.

It can be though. Last week was an example. What I don't get is how we can go from that effort to this in a week... Last week was the perfect example of how we're not a bad team but lack a few match winners. Collingwood had those match winners in the last that got them over the line. We didn't.

Sheppard been good most the the season but has gone back to his old self the last two weeks, how many spud kicks did I see from him this week.
