So today I got in a bit of a tiff at work with the IT guy and as a result he has blocked all the websites I browse.

foxsports, superfooty, realfooty etc. Surely there is a way to still visit these. What are ways around this? The easier the better for me as I am not that technical.

In a few words...there isn't.
I would imagine your going through some kind of proxy and basically they dictate the terms..

Tip...be nicer to your IT guys ;)

There are heaps of proxy websites that might work, but from experience they seem to all be pretty slow and generally crap. Most of them have super discreet names like facebookproxy.com or hidemyass.com.

If their corporate proxy policy allows this then their Network/Security Architects should be fired. If the proxy has been configured securely grab a phone line and modem and go to internet direct...........again it probably wont go undetected.

Some proxies struggle or just dont support SSL so if your after facebook or other sites that support SSL just use https. SSL policy control requires more planning and overhead at the internet edge (usually privacy concerns) and a lot of large companies dont bother.

Understand the dispute with your IT guy but nevertheless,

How about pulling your finger out and actually earning your keep that you have been gifted you ungrateful slack ****

i've been that guy whose had to block websites, it's a thankless task that usually comes from above

unless your company uses a program called Websense. shit of a program!!

but my advise, don't try to get around them, you'll end up violating the companies IT use policy (or whatever they have), and more than likely end up without a job.

Have come across some some problems with being frozen out or blocked from another football chat site today.
Apparently my Email address is banned? So i tried under another Email address and the same thing happened.
This is all done from my notebook at home so is not a work related block. Just wonder if anyone else has had this problem.

Same thing happened to me on fanfooty. Turns out some flog at my school must've got the school ip banned.

I'm glad its not just me then, thanks NB. I had only got onto this site recently and was just wondering what else was out there and tried that site you mentioned and another as well all with no luck.

Plenty of interesting and fancy suggestions, yet I didn't spot the obvious one.......... can you disable the proxy in your browser? Even if you can't, you can often disable it with a simple registry change.
