and for the others as well i suppose. with ling being one of the best if not the best tagger in the comp, the boys really needed to lift in their efforts to block him out at stoppages. and i thought the boys were brilliant in an area in which both supporters and players alike were all talking about wanting to improve on, but it just hasn't been put into practise in other games like it was last night. on numerous occassions carrazzo, gibbs, murphs and co blocked lings path alowing judd to do one of his trademark bursts out of the pack and hit someone lace out. about time i say, good work lads. :thumbsu:

Good call, Gary. Definitely starting to find a way back through the middle and clearing a path for the great man. See what happens when we tackle hard (and they stick)? See what happens when we harrass, chase, run on, punch, flow down the ground in lines, back-up our mates and don't take any shit? Even Juddy was having none of Ling's shit.

What happens is we start to realise even teams like Geelong consist of players with 2 legs, 2 arms and 1 head. We have the talent, the game plan is starting to click, the Stevo dumping has had a sensational effect on the whole list. Scotty back playing well is important particularly with his seaming in-cutter kick for goal now working beautifully.

We still have a long way to go. 4 points from last night:

  • Stevo is a disgrace the way he allows himself to be out-marked one on one. Too easily brushed aside for a bloke of his experience.

  • Robbo needs to take an intensive course in Take The Mark First Then Worry About What Happens Next 101. Sick of blokes screaming for the ball then losing possession by not carrying out the basics.

  • Carlos creates. He has worked well on most of his faults but still tends to give off to someone around him rather than bang it forward himself.

  • We have to get over hand-balling the ****ing thing to anyone in a navy jumper. It has to be to anyone in a navy jumper IN THE CLEAR or at least MOVING.
All up very happy. And yes, we must block for Juddy. :thumbsu::)

I think Richard Hadley in the team has helped enormously he is a very hard body in there. I think on one occasion I saw two Geelong blokes bounce off him last night in the one piece of play and he just took it and kept going.

His hard body is crucial for finals, if he continues to find form he will help us heaps.

i even saw hammer give linga a good one just before a ball up, it was bloody great. the lads really did lift tonight, gibba gave linga a ripper too, a few geelong boys were hating it. stick it up ya ass ling go blues.

I know what he means, too many times a guy panics under pressure and handballs to anyone in sight, makes a difficult situation into a bad one.

It was good to hear Ratten mention after the game that the midfielders had been working for each other, really makes a difference. Worked so well for Judd at the Eagles too.

We seem to have a lot more midfield options now which makes us a lot less predictable and takes a lot of pressure off Judd, Murphy and Gibbs.
