I had a bad case of glandular fever when I was in high school so I had to have regular blood tests. They have never bothered me (needles) so I guess I was lucky in that regard.
I agree with what other people have said, its all in the head, it doesnt hurt, just look the other way if the sight of blood gets to you.
I also took the approach of trying to squirt the blood as high as I could, it was the highlight of my day when I had G fever :o :D

The last 3 months of my life have been a joke, I felt nausias (sp?) ALL day EVERY day the whole time, and it's hell.

I dunno what coleac disease is maybe you mean celiac disease?

I wont go into what that is - (cos you dont want to ;)) i'll just say its not too bad, unless you really love your food - if it is that, and it sounds like it might possibly be.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on them? Last one I had was about 5 years ago and I collapsed...so I'm not too happy at the moment. :(

Maybe it's a short way of saying Colon cancer - you know, what sharon osbourne had. Not to worry you or anything leonmagic.

Are you more worried about the actual needle and test, or what you're going to find out?

I've had maybe one blood test that I can remember, for glandular fever, and I was fine. I also give blood regularly so needles don't faze me.

:D

Nah it is what Dr Nick said, and if I do have it it rules out my whole bloody diet unfortunately, but it's a blessing in disguise really, as my diet will improve out of sight (that's if I do have it).

I've emailed the Doc and asked if I can do any other tests instead, I'm sure Dr Nick will know the one I'm referring to....embarrassing but hey I'd rather that than a needle. :o

Nah I'm not worried at all - I checked up on what I'm being tested for and I've only got 2 of the symptoms out of about 9/10.

Thanks to all the well-wishers too, but it looks like I may have got out of it for now.. :p

Its weird how it hurts more if u look at it. Ive had needles on my finger, shoulder, forearm, bum when i was a kid.

If u look at it going in, it seems real weird and ur kinda tell urself that it hurts as it goes in deeper, and seeing the thing suck the blood out.

In terms of the results and stuff, if ur the type that worries, then thats u and it can hardly be helped. But try to settle down. It generally depends on the type of person you and its not easily fixed. I had a test for hep C once and the only time when i got nervous was when the results came back.

They don't bother me at all. And a neurofen won't work.
Do you really need to bite on something? IV injections really don't hurt. The only time I had to hold onto something and squeeze when I was getting a needle was when I was getting my tat done.

getting a tattoo is worse than a needle - but needing to squeeze something? -Tattoos dont hurt

I only needed to squeeze the side of the chair for the first 30 seconds.. fear of the unknown I guess... and yes they do hurt.

i'm thinking colonoscopy

I'd rather the needle

Colonoscopies are nothing - been there done that. The worst thing is the "cleanse" the couple of days beforehand.

Are people who are scared of needles equally afraid of mossies? Because it would be interesting to find out if it's the taking of your blood that distresses or simply just something jabbing you. Then again, mossies could carry diseases.
