Re: Blu-ray Wins(HD-DVD gone)

hmmm another non-RPG fan - i'm seeing a pattern here.

Yes, you have terrible taste in games. You chose not to reply to my post regarding the respective RPG lineups, don't know why you didn't keep this to the relevant thread.

I just don't see how anyone can claim to have an educated opinion on 360 vs PS3 without owning both consoles. Considering you and LLD take this topic so seriously, I woudl expect you'd have purchased one by now, unless of course you can't afford it. There's nothing wrong with being cheap.

Owning two consoles that share 90% of their games libraries? Hmmm I'll just stick with the one with the better versions, exclusives and online service :thumbsu:

you're allowed to talk about anything you want, just like I am.

If you want to bang on about the alleged superiority of a product that has ceased to exist in any meaningful form, you're absolutely welcome to do so. Just don't get huffy when people tell you you're wasting your time ;)

No worries, thanks for contributing.

What question? I must have missed it, please repeat it for me.

PS3 has many better versions than 360, and it has better exclusives (by a massive margin considering the only big exclusive 360 has is Halo 3, and that's only until it's ported to PC anyway) and doesn't break down in 20 degree heat.

You're free to choose one, I chose both - and from my experience with BOTH consoles (compared to your experience with one, and only FPS games at that), the PS3 is a much better machine, better value, better variety of games with more features.

Your opinion is.... tragically flawed considering you only own one of the two machines and have had no first-hand exposure to the other.

No question, I guess you just ignore the posts that prove you are wrong. I'm betting you just keep on speaking in falsehoods.

Hey, whattya know, I was right.

I'm sure I own 360 games with a wider variety of genres than you own PS3 games.

Plenty of first hand experience with the PS3 thanks. You own one and still can't tell me these mystical 'better variety of games with more features'.

Keep on dismissing the chance to actually tell us anything about this wondrous machine.

Like I said, I missed the question - I'm not ignoring it, I just asked you to point me in the right direction. What page is it on? I dislike having to scroll through the lies you spout that I've already proven wrong for a second time, so I'm not going to go re-read through.

It's up to you, slick.

Alright I've had enough. Will be interesting when Bluray Profile 3.0 comes out and needs an additional chip or 2.

It's hardly as if the movies won't work, champ. It will just mean BR Live won't.

I'd much prefer that to Toshiba's "Super Upscale" that stretches 480p images into 1080i and calls it HD. It's like putting a collar on a pile of dog shit and calling it a puppy.

Anyone who thinks you can view a DVD in HD would probably pat the shitpuppy.

They would also be known as Toshiba's target market.

PMSL at the thought of someone patting a pile of dog shit with a collar on it though. :D

What the hell has it got to do with anything. Toshiba HD DVD players upscale DVDs. Great, that's a good thing. Show me where they have advertised the capability to turn it into HD and I will agree with you.

Of course Sony-chan would never target silly people, or do anything that may adversely affect the customer...

Re: Blu-ray Wins(HD-DVD gone)

.

For those of us that like HD images/sound on our large screens/HT systems, Blu-ray is now the only choice until some one comes up with a web that allows me to download 50GBs of movie etc without using my entire allocation for the month and takes significantly less than the current 2 days on my 8Mb connection.

So those people outside of Australia as an example.

Re: Blu-ray Wins(HD-DVD gone)

You just don't get it, do you HBK?

Drop some of the several hours of gay anime cutscenes, put some effort into the audio mixes, and it would take up 2 8.5gb DVDs at the most.
The thing is dropping things from a game doesn't make it a proper port, look at COD4, Burnout, and any other game on both consoles to see what a port is like, it needs to have the same offline features, stories and scenes, you can't simply cut elements out of the game because it is too big to fit on a 360 disc!

If they wanted to port it to 360 they could, and no one except sad MG fanboys would notice the difference.
Of course they could port it to the 360, but it would take around about 7 discs to fit all the data in!

Compression all round, especially for the movies. It is bad design and programming to need a 50gb disc, but whatever. If the space is there, might as well use it, I guess.

I reckon all that MG is needs is some compression, and perhaps make it a game and not a movie.
Kojima already said they have compressed and cut elements of MGS to get it on the 50GB disc, I think you will find that what the finished project is will blow your 360 loving socks right off your feet!

And also, what was COD 4 like, you cannot say that wasn't like a movie?

Movie and cinematic experience = good gaming time!

You haven't actually played a Metal Gear game before, have you?

COD4 wasn't like a movie; it was almost all gameplay with very few movies.

A lot of Japanese games, like FF and MG have an extreme amount of cutscenes which makes you think, are they making a game or an interactive movie?

The only bits they're cutting is the japanese voice track. That's something I can live without to be honest.

Has any movie been 50GB yet?

That is a huge amount of "data".

Nope, nowhere even close. Even with uncompressed 7.1 Surround sound most movies would struggle to use 10-15gb

Obviously the file sizes are too big to realistically be available for download anytime soon, but they aren't so big that it won't be possible in the future.

More likely will be getting multiple movies on one disc - for example you could buy the whole star wars series + all the bonus features and store it on one quad-layer disc..

Better yet, you coudl have Godfather part 1 & 2 on one disc, and part 3 on another disc, which you can burn to ash and then pee on.

A cool new feature from Blu-Ray(They just keep giving:p)

Blu-Ray will now be giving a Standard Definition Special Edition DVD along with your Blu-Ray copy in the box now, it will also allow you to download that SD version to your PC or MAC.

It is explained better in this article.

http://www.themanroom.com/news/Hitman_Blu-ray_Packaging_Interior_Preview/2253
Next Tuesday, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release the unrated cut of Hitman on Blu-ray Disc.

What makes Hitman on Blu-ray special is the inclusion of a disc housing the standard definition copy of the special edition DVD release. This is the first Fox title to include this feature, which will continue to appear on all new theatrical releases moving forward.

We received our press copy of Hitman on Blu-ray today and popped it open for a look. As you can see, Fox made the effort to dress up the digital copy rather than throw in an ugly silver disc. Kudos to Fox.

Also included is an installation instruction card for transferring the standard definition version of Hitman to either a Mac or PC, into iTunes (Mac or PC) or Windows Media Player (PC only). The 16-digit serial number required to unlock the file is printed on the card, so it's not an insert you'll want to misplace.
