What are people's thoughts on the big 2yo classic?

Also can anybody tell me what the go is with some horses running in previews yet are not on the Tab Sportsbet Blue Diamond market??
eg Songspur

Thanks and good punting:)

Assuming that the only horses in the market are the entries.
You can obviously run in a preview whether you have nominated for the BD or not.....late entry is available.

All I know about the 2yo's this year is that the Corstens horse that has been $81 to $12 won a trial by 8 lengths at Cranbourne yesterday

think a blackbooker of mine Sweet Cheeks is a real chance, am happy to take the 15's going around at the moment

Also thought Pelizotti hit the line well on Saturday

Shhh! Donnnn't jinx it :o Meh, I'll keep the fingers crossed... lol.

The colts prelude this week is shaping as a ripper. Secession Vs Beneteau Vs General Truce as the three up and comers who've always been around the mark in Diamond discussion. It'd be foolish to discount the rest in this though.

At this stage, I'm actually not much keen on anything in the fillies brigade, but it won't surprise to see one/some come out and stamp themselves a contender for the BD. Panipique interests me most - nice filly, loved her win at the Valley on debut, handily bred, in one of the hottest stables in the country for bright young talent aaand I had a soft spot for her dam.

Will be interesting to see how the Caulfield track plays....

I'm a big fan of the Sydney raider Beneteau. Was a million dollar yearling and looked very good winning at its first start (although was still very raw/green). I think that he could end up fave come 6pm saturday arvo after it blows the colts and geldings away.

I thought Star Witness was very professional and very impressive on Saturday - look like he will appreciate the 1200m.

I was all over Beneteau on the weekend and obviously it and Psychologist have come into favouritism as a result of their runs, but Star Witness looks great value and has slipped past the hype generated on the weekend for mine.

Always tough races to back though. You just don't know whats got massive natural improvement up its sleeve unless you're in the know with the stables.

I'm with you Hoffy. Psychologist was incredible and Beneteau's run was also impressive but I don't think he beat a great deal. Star Witness is proven against class gallopers and can't help but think they've left plenty in the tank for the 1200m diamond.

Bump.

Have to stick with Star Witness despite the shocking draw.

$8.50 with iasbet each way looks good value. Beneteau clearly the one to beat based on form and barrier.

Psychologist for me. The barrier is poor but all her dangers are drawn wide. She was touched once with the whip last start compared to Beneteaus 9 or so, I think she will improve more on her first up run!

I have a ticket on Legalistic also which I chucked on after it's maiden win that day.

Very glad I stuck with him - not so glad I backed him at the $8.50 fixed odds and not the $12 tote price.

Outstanding win, hopefully he goes on with it.... many recent Diamond winners don't.
