Can "play" it however we like - can guarantee if we've given Martin assurances that we'll do what we can to get him across, and then cut him off with 1 day left in the trade period to chase Wines, that it'll burn our chances with some other players moving forward. Players talk. You reckon if Martin told a bunch of players that we left him at the altar to chase another player instead that word wouldn't spread through the comp? Would probably test some relationships within the club as well.

If we were talking Josh Kelly instead of Ollie Wines, I think you take the hit. Ollie's not that important to our prospects, though.

Martin is uncontracted. He's leaving. There's other avenues to bring him in if GCS won't trade reasonably.

He hasn't publicly nominated. Probably because we've told him GCS are gonna play this one hard and dirty.
