Obviously the pre-season comp is taken seriously by someone!

(Head to head)

Blues - $1.67
Tigers - $2.20
(sportsbet)

Are they serious?
The odds of the Saints v Demons tell tells me they aren't!
(Demons favourites by a mile)

Injury concerns, maybe?

Or maybe it's because the NAB games were mostly played by kids rather than a dozen rejects from different clubs, hence they expect this time we can do better? ;)

But yeah, considering our previous two years and how little the pre-season matters, you guys should be favourites.

Injuries aside, I would have thought that Tigers/Blues and Saints/Demonds were 50/50 at best.
If it was at the dome I'd understand Carlton favs.
When was the last time Carlton beat us at the G? (I don't really know, but I would have thought it was quite a while ago)

carlton won the nab cup, we have won 1 out of 4 games and that was a limp win over a crap pies

riewoldt will be struggling to be fit for the first game

the odds are about right doesnt mean the results are set in stone

gee there are some whingers around here who cares if the tab doesnt rate us or if no newspaper scribes have us in the top 8 we are premiership material

The only one that appears to be whinging is you.
There are some decent supporters around that have opinions that I don't mind hearing - Yours isn't one of them.
Grumpy old fool.

Not sure how finishing last in 2006 all of a sudden makes us favorites over a team that finished mid-ladder. Perhaps people are acknowledging that our lowly 2006 finish was a gross understatement of the young Blues ability. Interesting. :)

Or maybe all bookmakers are Blues supporters and see the NAB Cup as meaningful.:)

im with plsc on this one, we have had a very average preparation and it is hard to know exactly where the immediate improvement will stem from, the blues look good at the moment, murphy and fevola will become a potent duo in the years to come. Looking forward to it and could go either way but we cant deny the blues look pretty sharp at the minute.the fact we're going into the game with likely starts from mcguane and possibly even riewolt as somebody has mentioned isnt very comforting for mine. Not to say they wont blossom as the season progresses.

Are these the same people who grossly understimated the young blues ability as you say in the previous 5 years? Geezus you're a dopey pri@k. Go away.

No its a Richmond vs. Carlton thread I think you'll find. There is a game coming up between our two clubs if you realised there is a real season past March. ;)

Far enough in the week leading up, but there's been multiple threads on your board about this game for some time. Playing on your mind a bit is it?
How many threads on our board about this game?

Don't flatter yourself too much. Round 1 has been a long time coming, as such there has was always going to be a great deal discussion about it, regardless of the opponent.

maybe you should go make one of your own so we dont have to put up with your mindless dribble.... or are you still too busy talking about your pre season form over there, thought you would have learnt by now.

All is roses and chocolates now since some impotent ol geezer pulled you out of the depths of despair, you will be exposed as the frauds you are 2 rounds in.Imagine how potent your midfield will be with gibbs, murphy and the 07' number one pick!

2 rounds in? Doesn't sound very confident. Maybe the odds are right.
Well we do play Geelong in week 2, but their pre-season form is rubbish, they smashed some deadbeats in week 1..........oh, sorry.:o

you witty little monkey you, ya got me! You can be forgiven for defeat in round one against a bunch of dead beats, you know with the "premiership" and all still hanging over you, but when you are comprehensively thrashed by the cats it will confirm that not a hell of alot is going to change, and there is nothing ur old saviour can do about it....thats if he makes it to round 2.;)

Form suggests Carlton should be favourites and that means great things for my betting account!!

Go tiges!

if it been the other way around the betting would been reversed

you would be favouites if yoy win every nab cup game and the side your playing rd lost all bar 1 of cause they wouldn't be favouites
unless if they won their practices matches would been closer

will be good close game either way :thumbsu:

Carlton looked good in the preseason no matter what it meant. Very good. The ability to come back, hold teams at bay, run games out, defence offence, skills etc were all on display. Blues actually looked like a totally different team to that of 2006. The Tigers looked the same, if not worse.

Dosen't mean we will hold the form for the season, but right now, we are well and truly ahead of the Tigers.

Fair call, mind your money.
