Played structured (fixed limit betting) hold em at burswood yesterday and came across 9 5 off suit (one was a diamond). It's not a hand that I normally play but I thought what the hell and played to the flop.
Flop doesn't help me out as far as my 5 and 9 were concerned but 2 diamonds come up and I thought I would play it further.
When it was all said and done at the river there were 4 players and 4 diamonds on the board and everyone bets around to me (I was last to act), so I just called the bet. Noone had a diamond and I won the pot.
To say it didn't stir people is an understatement and a couple of arguments broke out as to why I played that hand in the first place and why I played it after the flop.
I said to one guy "do I have to justify why I play each hand WITH MY OWN MONEY".......he had no comeback
Anyhow, I walked away from the table and had a brief break (I had to calm myself down to avoid further confrontation).
I get back from my break and the first hand back I'm looking down at Queen 10 suited. I turned the nut straight and raised after the turn and got 3 callers to the river. River was no help to noone but someone bet into it and I raised again. Showed the nuts and I turned to the guy who started the argument and said words to the effect of "that's why you play bad cards sometimes because you get non believers that think you play bad cards all the time and you can string them along when you get a premium hand."
Anyone with thoughts or other bluff stories are welcome to reply
