David "bomber" Wocjinski is out of contract and is being looked at by other clubs. Is yet to agree with the cats.

Thoughts !!!!

I wouldn't be too worried if he wasn't retained. He basically gets a game because of his pace....that is it.

He is 26 and has shown no real signs of improvement, and this is before the knee injury as well.

Great clubman - just never going to a great player, at Geelong anyway.

I would have to disagree. His pace is great, his disposal isn't too bad at pace either. It is a lot better than Burns or Tenace at the same pace. He is great at breaking tackles too, which is needed in our team.

The problem wrong with him is that we have a designated kicker on the HB line, and that is Hunt. Also Milburn takes his 10 marks a game also, therefore guys look for him.

So it is difficult to get recognised in a quality backline. Remember he is only just back from a knee reco, and last years form before the injury was fantastic. Also, a few have compared Callan to him, but I haven't seen much of Callan, so I cannot comment on their comparison. Is there much a difference between the two ??

Some people on this forum have very short memories. He is a quality player, and is required at GFC.

We can't get rid of every dud in the team this year, we have to keep some of them. It is unfortunate, but if we get rid of them all, we'd only pick up the same duds or others back in the draft.

IMO, the only guys that will go are KK (traded), Macarthy (delisted) Kouli (maybe traded, most likely delisted), and Gardiner (Delisted). Kelly is also close to being traded.

They should sign him up ASAP. I can't understand why he hasn't been selected for more games this year. Why, when we have a slow midfield, would you let a player like this go? I don't understand the logic at all.

I will agree to disagree with CM35 - I don't think his disposal is any worse than many other players in the side. He has improved through the year as he has got more confident after his knee op.

IMO, many of the posters here are calling for the big broom, clearing out a whole heap of players. I disagree with this - there are a lot of players with plenty of talent worth persisting with on our list, IF they are coached properly and play with confidence in a good, positive gameplan (something we have lacked all this year).

As an example, a month ago, many were calling for SJ to go - where are they now?

You really seem to have it in for bomber for some reason, which is your prerogative of course, but he offers a lot more then just pace and nothing else, a very talented footballer in many respects, and Geelong would be mad to let him slip through their fingers.

And I can't see where you think he's shown no improvement, 04, the season before his injury, was far and away his best ever.

dont worry...you will get used to CM35's broken record on woja.

and in 2004 he did get most improved at the club, but how can he if he hasnt??

I was calling for him to be floated during trade week to see what we could get offered for him. If anything substantial was offered then trade him (that is my theory on a few of the players if put them out there and if a decent offer comes in then consider it). SJohnson over the last few weeks has increased his price tag but I would still have him on the table at trades. Pretty much the only ones I wouldn't have on the table are ...

J.Corey
C.Mooney
B.Ottens
G.Ablett
P.Chapman
J.Bartel
M.Scarlet
N.Ablett (mainly because you cant trade his name worth too much to geelong and he does have potential)

Everyone else is negotiable if the offer is right and the balance is maintained. You dont have to take the deal if offered but you may aswell consider all possibilities.

Yes, I am very strong on my views of Wojcinski, but at least I am providing some sort of discussion, unlike some....

My critical analysis on Wojcinski is only based around his football ability. His attitide, committment to the club and his personality seem first class.

Mark Blake is definatley not up for trade either. This kid will be a star. Forget about Meesen. Blake is the real deal. Remember Cox had 4 years in the system before he produced at a consistent level. Look at the patience Bris showed with their big men

I am still here thinking we should trade Steve Johnson, I never questioned whether or not he was good enough for AFL, I just don't think he is that valuable to our side because he doesn't chase. He has played exceptionally well the last month though.

I am all for the big broom, there is about 8 players that could be either traded or delisted with little impact on the side.

Kingsley - rumours of interest are buzzing
Kelly - If we canget something decent for him
McCarthy - An Adelaide may be interested
S.Johnson - Would be worth a lot as a trade
Wojcinski - Starting player in most backlines

S.Hunt - Delist
Gardiner - Delist
Riccardi - Retired

If we could get a Kade Simpson and Nathan Eagleton I would give these 5 players up no problem. The only real loss would come from S.J who is good for 2 goals this year but I think we have enoguh mid to small forwards and not enough midfielders.

well, i stated that he won most improved player in 2004 which obviously means that he has improved, does it not??

bringing up woja's bad disposal or decision making, another ling thread on his value to gfc, etc ad nauseum isnt providing discussion, its stating the bleeding obvious on what people already know your thoughts are.

in another thread you mentioned that kent kingsley hasnt had the best delivery whilst at geelong yet the only person who you deride for poor disposal is woja. obviously there are others at the gfc whose disposal must be crap. why pin point ONE player who makes as many mistakes as the next gfc player? for instance, Ling had 7 clangers (not the first time this season) on the weekend, theoretically, his disposal isnt first rate.

His name is Shannon Byrnes not Burns.
I'm sorry but it's really been bugging me. :o

Add to that list Enright, Corey, Byrnes, Tenace and Kelly. Wojcinski is 26 and he still has the same problems. The writing should be on the wall by now.

Ling hasn't been as good in 2006 but he has credits up his sleeve from a gun period from 2002-2005.

Yep, I realise that you're commenting on his football ability only, but I just feel you're being overly critical in this area.

As you say, his disposal could be a bit better, but it's by no means the worst in the side, and is more then compensated by his ability to run the lines and deliver the ball into the forward line quickly.
Hard at it, quite skillful, good mark for his size, I'd say his pluses far outweigh his one [ minor ] weakness.

And as it's been pointed out, he won the most improved player the year before he wrecked his knee, which suggests he was certainly improving, and with a solid preseason under his belt I see no reason why he can't recapture that form, or near enough to it.

If you could get a 2nd round pick for Monica, I would probably take it, otherwise I would like to see him stick around.

We do have young quick players in Tenace, Byrnes and Varcoe who should all be pushing for spots in our best 22 next season. But then Wojcinski is 1 year out from a knee reco, and probably deserves another year to show he's still got it.

But in this draft, I want picks, hence if you got one in the top 30, I would probably make a move.
