anyone else enjoy this show?

I am hooked, I think it is a great show and I am so jealous of their job.

Not a big fan of the constant ad breaks though, seems it is every 3 minutes, I just wish it was on more than once a week.

Great show :thumbsu:

Didn't realise there were so many people out there that need saving at the beach.

Not a huge fan but I will watch it if it's on, it is pretty informational for people like me who don't live near a surf beach. I also like to see the fights that sometimes brake out on the beach.

This new lad, taking the traineeship on is pretty crap in the surf but I guess you have to expect that from a bloke who doesnt live near the coast.

Big move for him to take so I hope it works out for him.

Love the show watch it every week I grew up near the Beach as a kid and have been caught rips before, so understand the importance of what these guy's & girl's do for a living.

They do get paid but I am not sure if it is full time as I remember in a previous episode it showed Reidy doing his second job of being a garbo, I think one of them is also a fireman.

One of the guys played Sam in Home and Away a few years ago.

just wondered cos over here lifesavers are volunteers - but then saw your edited reply likka -less agressive

they have the regular volunteers which wear the traditional red and yellow they are known as clubbies and there are also the paid life guards which as Likka said get paid by the council.

Lamest. Show. Ever.

Beach Patrol on CI is better.

They showed an episode a few weeks ago when they went to help out in the aftermath of Katrina, and they went through house after house, aged care home after aged care home. Some places they'd find people alive, some dead.

What hit me the most was a chapel in an old folks home had 15 or so deceased in it, obviously all had gone there for help from above, however nothing doing.

Heh nice link that one.

I think it's a fantastic show, highly addictive. Sometimes though they get bogged down in showing jokes and things on the side which are a bit wishy washy, but the bulk of the show is very entertaining.

Ten are advertising a death in the next episode, should be interesting viewing.

Great show.

I thought that was a pretty amazing episode.

The reaction of the young apprentice when the son came up and said his dad is missing, you could just pick the moment he twigged what was happening, when he just turned to the tower.

The family of the man who died was brillaint, that letter they wrote, and just to allow them to show the footage and tell their story, really got to feel for them seeing they had to move back to Mongolia.

It just shows how easy it is to drown, wish they would show this series (especially last nights episode) on each incoming International Flight so tourists and new citizens are aware of the dangers.
It just amazes me the amount of people who can't swim that are rescued every week not just at Bondi but around the country, if you can't swim learn to or stick to the pool where the dangers are greatly reduced...

I liked this show when it first started, when they were Lifeguards, now they are just celebrities, who seem to be running a "boys club". I respect what they do at the beach and all, saving lives, spinals, ect. They don't mind rubbing it in "This is the best job in the world" "not a bad office to come to everyday"...
The poor clubbies on bondi don't get any recognition & it seems the paid lifeguards hate them..

Any sydney locals on here know what they are like off camera?

I can't imagine the pay would be very good and they're only employed as lifeguards during season. I recall them being upset that they don't see any of the success the show has had.

They might love their job but I'm certainly not jealous.

Nah, some of them actually work all year. Not many of them, but there would be a few who would be there in winter

I think only 4 of them are full time during the winter. A lot of them are "ambassadors" for different organisations. And recently a line of bondi rescue sun screen was released.
