Ok it's got to the stupid stage.

JHF getting continually booed and it's the media that's driving it and one particular knuckle dragger is - as usual - the instigator and ring leader.

If he can't be got by fair means it's time to use other methods.

Every club comes out publicly in support of any player getting organized booing.

The AFL finally gets off it's collective RRRRR's and closes down his access and his media employer access.

Time to stop this infantile behaviour.

I dont5 think you should be free to punch Daicos just because he's great, but mere noise from over the fence?

......Just grow a pair and win instead. It surely never stopped Ablett, Lockett, Matthew's etc.

Remember when Jack got booed weekly and nothing in the media about it. If anything it was “jacks fault for ducking”.

Tbf Jack did play the bad guy and encouraged players and in turn crowd to target him. I notice he is keeping his head down this year. The booing is lousy but expectations the media will do anything other than criticise booing whilst simultaneously feeding it are misplaced.

Isn't it the case of the media being selective or lazy in their reporting?

To me it's clear that a lot of supporters didn't like the manner in which JHF left North Melbourne, having insisted on being the no. 1 pick and seemingly with the intention of returning home anyway. I say seemingly because I don't know whether he had that intention prior to being drafted, but it seems he did.

Instead of exploring the reasons as to why supporters of other clubs might express their distaste of him, the media's narrative has been that North Melbourne was such a bad place that he was forced to leave and that it was such a brave thing for him to do. There's no real nuance to the media's discussion, just flippant remarks about North supporters in the crowd and statements from commentators condemning those that are booing, hoping that by doing so people will stop doing it.

For me the better approach would be to just not report it or give it any airtime. But, like most things in the mainstream AFL media these days, there's a narrative to drive or an agenda to be pushed.

It will die a natural death over time especially while port keep winning….if only people would stop crapping on about it. It becomes a bit embarrasing if youre on the losing side and booing a player that you have no connection to or no reason to boo.

As for olly henry, I’d imagine that was a one off for his first game against Collingwood. It’s almost tradition to boo an ex player in his first game against his teammates, especially if it was a bit of an ugly exit. That too will subside naturally.

Yep.

I agree. There is booing and there is booing. Crowds can bring out the ugly side in people. There is booing that does damage beyond the game and individual - the Adam Goodes situation for example. The media loves it, encourages then criticises. Best if clubs address it, the AFL have noideaatall.

Good move by Saints. Tell an Aussie not do something... heck you, you don't tell me what to do... I'm doing it 😂 The convict heritage coming through.

I'm not a booer. Watched Bucks cop it his whole career but I think if Ken H hadn't preached in his press conference and the media just left it alone it would've died off.People just don't like being told what to do it's just human nature
Ken probably doesn’t even really give a crap either and was just using it to have his back and at the same time fire him up.

Completely agree, it's totally classless and embarrassing.

The Naicos v JHF thing feels a lot like Buckley v Voss all over again. Obviously the Collingwood haters will go out of their way to find reasons to say JHF is better. But we're better than that and will offer our unbiased opinions. 😉

A lot of people in here post as if they had never booed. I find it interesting that anyone would try to find a logical reason for it. It seems that the media is making them do it. Maybe he dives into other players legs and what was the other reason given last time? I think it's unfair that other supporters havent booed ollie henry. But I'm sure our people will overlook that and boo Jason to show our support for north...

Please, you all know why supporters Boo him. Don't act like you can't understand it..
Whether you like it or not is more the point, but don't say "i don't understand why...

1) He really wanted to be pick 1, and would have gone to play for Syria if that's what it would have taken.
2) He knew he would only stay there for 1 year, and then ask for a trade, in the middle of his contract, to be back to be close to his Mum (Worse than our little Ollie - At lease Ollie stayed until his contract ended).
3) He played less games than there are eggs in a carton, yet he though he knew better than a ruckman that played 300 games, and the rest of the senior players.
4) He though it would be great to argue with his team while he was playing matches, and also while walking off at the end of a game.
4) He though he knew better than the conditioning staff, and chose to ignore the procedures of rehab after games.
5)The kid is a flog. He is lucky he has skils in football, because i shudder to think where he would be without Footy.

And the reason the booing will continue is because the media keep pointing it out after games. Tell an aussie to stop doing something, and you know what the attitude is.. :F*%k them, they won't tell me what to do..

And the search for reasons go on... I hear syrian refugees are the ones doing the booing...

I used to love standing on the hill at Vic Park. Not that much booing but the vitriol... Still a lot of it was clever and not simply a pack of rabid dogs jumping on a mindless bandwagon. It's not about whether whoever can handle it. It's about childish, mindless boring behaviour. Like music after goals. Next there will be kiss cam.
