What are some of the best books you have read?

I recently read an ancient Indian manuscript called the 'Kama Sutra'.

The Karma Sutra is a family-orientated exercise book that provides an in depth explanation of stretches and exercises to perform with a fellow family member. My sister and I both decided to go through the book together and try to get fit. After we read the first few pages we decided that perhaps this was not suitable for us to complete together due to obvious reasons so I enlisted the help of my grandmother. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I would be interested to go through it one day with Ronda Rousey or Ellen.

Robinson Crusoe and Meditations by Marcus Aurelius are also books I've read recently that I really enjoyed. I loved the story of Robinson being trapped in the desert and the talking snake leading him back to civilization in an epic journey involving singing hamburgers and some rather nasty papercuts on Crusoe's left index finger.

Over the weekend I read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. To be truthful I don't think I fully understood it and frequently found my thoughts wandering to other things as I read it but I pushed through to the end anyway. 2 stars out of 5. Not sure what the hype was about.

Last week I read the David Thorne book, 'Look Evelyn, Duck Dynasty Wiper Blades. We should Get Them.' I read it in one sitting and immediately went and bought another one of his books 'The Internet is a Playground' as soon as I was done I was that impressed which I then read the next day. Would recommend.

I know there is a few here that use book depository (dales.girl38 Gough )

I've never used it but it turns out that their "Free shipping" isn't really free. Its calculated in the price of the books. They calculate this based off your IP address which means if you use a VPN to say you are in America you can save quite a bit (you still buy the same way, using AUD and everything).

The below image shows a 40 dollar saving for the same books just based off the IP. Use this information however you feel :thumbsu:

Wow, legend!

I never pick Quiv as an Ezra Pound fan.
Haha. I can promise you these aren't my books :P

I think the last book I ever bought was Harry Potter 7

Me either. It's vastly over-rated. His son was such a whiny little bitch, too.

**** I hated that book in school.
So many books we were assigned to read in high school that I absolutely despised

Only to revisit them years later and wonder wtf I was even thinking back then. High School really knew how to make me hate reading

Hmmm. Will have to try this. Buy less than 10 books a year but always through Book Depository. If it's an American book I like to get the US edition, a British book get UK edition, etc. Plus **** paying $35 for a paperback just because it was printed in NSW (the real reason I started buying online).

They've been wilfully overpriced here for decades. It's got to the point where people don't even go into book shops (the ones that are left) because they assume it'll be overpriced. Reminds me of taxis.

The Catcher in the Rye is my GOAT book, absolute ripper, piss funny too.

Read it last weekend and loved it.

Plenty of my mates hated it (presumably from reading it in school) but fmd it was funny and Holden Caulfield is a great character.

Other favourites:

Flowers for Algernon
American Psycho
Fight Club
1984
The Stranger

The misso bought a book at Kmart yesterday for $18 that was priced at $29 Dymocks - now I'm all for supporting traditional bookstores but that is a laughable mark up!

I’m so jealous of everyone who did it at school, I read it off my own bat.

Holden is ****ed in the head and a funny bastard, I still find it funny every time I read “SLEEP TIGHT YA MORONS!”
