Congratulations you were r*ped by a big fat slow moving lug.

Look at the difference in size between both players. Lynch would be a hard task one on one for any player. It was always going to be a difficult assignment. I don't think there was much more Bowden could have done.

bit uncharitable to lynch, wouldnt mind him at Punt rd at all. aside from Richo is there a fella up forward bigger than 5"8 that ever looks like kicking a goal:o

Yeah brownie although he missed a sitter from 5 metres out.

Why are you such a sour puss?

Bowden was given a task.

He is NOT a fullback
He does not have speed
Lynch had 1 contested mark, the other marks were taken from some great passing

Get off his back, it's not his fault he is given the task of stopping players like Pavlich, Lynch, Brown etc

Agree totally.

Why not ask why Polak was not on Lynch?

agree, their midfield was dominating and set up lynch (and hanson) for easy marks in front. even thursty had lot of trouble with hanson because they moved the ball fast.

just a question if your opponent was a good foot taller and about 20 kgs heavier, why would you try and play him from behind allnight? He sat their waiting for lynch to lead and gave him 2 meters every time. The only time I saw Bowden in front of lynch was at centre bounces when they lined up on each other.

I wont take anything away from bowden for being shorter than his man, but **** he shits me with his casual attitude, a casual bounce and casual stop running, a casual look up the ground and a casual kick to a team mate who is now under the pump.

give me a ****king break joel. :thumbsd:

if i got abit casual at work i might get a written warning and possibly sacked if i kept it up week after week:p

Gaspar him.

too right oxx

sick of the lame excuses people make for him, tonights is typical, oh he had to play on a guy so much bigger than him and their midfield were so deadly entering the 50.

woop de do dar

anyone see who Raines played on? who Thrusty played on? who McGuane played on?

they were all undersized. :thumbsd:

The big Q is under rated big time. Big sunavabitch who can kick a ball a country mile. Didn't see the game but having your colours lowered to him is no disgrace. Hard match up for any team.

To avoid the stepladder effect, I would think. If a bloke is half a foot and 20 kg heavier and has the benefit of crashing you from behind without fear of being called for an infringement, it would be wise to let him lead to the ball, and try to effect the spoil from behind.

Front position is only really useful in when in a marking contest, and there's no way Bowden could outmark Lynch in such a situation. That's why forwards are instructed top "play in front" - because their job isto mark. Contested marking has never been in the role descirption of a defender - often they are condemned for attempting this when they should be punching the ball.

Leo Barry, Darren Glass, Craig Bolton and Brett Rutten have all made an artform of playing from behind.

If you still subscribe to the "must play in front" philosophy, I assume that you also languish in the "don't handball in the backline" and "never kick across goal" group.

Lynch is a very strong player. If you play Lynch in front and have the ball kicked to a contested situation Lynch with his long arms and strong legs would have out muscled Bowden, with out a doubt. If we had Polak playing near Bowden or some other strong leaping backman that would have supported Bowden in this situation then I am sure Bowden would have played a different role ie in front.

Can handle Bowden being beaten on the lead with precise passing or one on one marking, because Lynch is huge guy. But how many times did the huge lump pick the ball up off the ground uncontested, run around in circles and kick a goal by default,WTF was Bowden doing???????????
If you play deep in defence you stay deep in defence until your team has control of the ball FFS!!!!!!!!!!! Bowdens problem is he has attacking instincts and is being played well out of position.

kind of felt sorry for Joel last night. He was put to the sword by TW. ;)
WTF Is this the same Cogga that chewed out my a rse last week when on another thread.
I totally agree with what you said
It is good to see you are coming around!
For those that say that Bowden should have done more on Lynch, think of it like this. It is the same sort of miss match that it would be if you had Selwood playing on Richo last night.
Selwood would have been carved up because he would have been too shot and too light, just like Bowden was.

a poetically justifiable way to end his season
