Box Hill Boys

[Hazell_rules]

Just wondering if anyone can give me an update on how the BHH boys went today. I'd be really interested in knowing how the likes of Johnson, picione, Hazell and Vanders went as I think a couple of them might get a game next week.

I thought Hazell and Vanders played well and hopefully will push for selection next week. Picione and Johnson were getting near the ball but they didnt really play well enough to be selected next week!
And also, Box Hill won!

A good win against Willy (C'wood) in the final practice match today at Box Hill.

I didn't take down the final score but we won by 3-4 goals I think.

A quick run-through of the Hawthorn players :

Nicholls - a good hard at it game in midfield/defence without dominating.
Williams - in and out but took a couple of lovely grabs and kicked a couple of nice goals.
Johnson - plenty of possessions in midfield but tended to spray a little. Good game though.
Bateman - not his best performance but still did OK. Missed a couple of sitters.
O'Farrell - Brilliant game. Rucked nearly all day, took marks around the ground and was VERY hard at it. BOG.
Piccioane - played well in the middle. Hard at it,plenty of good handballs. Big chance to step up for Lekka next week.
Hazell - worked hard all day without much luck up forward. Had a great 10 min burst in 2nd qtr then looked good in defence later in the game.
Ries - quality running game throught the midfield all day.
Vandenberg - Hard running,hard hitting game in midfied/defence. Was made to run all day to test his fitness and came through well.
Loats - In and out at CHF. Did some lovely things on the ground but didn't take enough grabs. Was beaten in the Ruck by Rohdey when he gave BOF brief spells.
Lonie - Good rebounding game off HBF nut was a little bit loose at times.
Greene - see Ries. These guys are so alike. Another good running game through midfield. Plenty of possessions.
Obst - Took some nice marks in defence and beat his opponents. Turned it over a couple of times.
Barlow - excellent game as forward running midfielder. Took some lovely strong marks. Would have to be up there for promotion IF his fitness is up to it.
Cox - anothher good game (he's had a good pre-season) on HBF. Still sprays it a little at times but I reckon he's getting better. VERY hard at it.
Dent - just behind BOF as BOG. Lots of possessions. Looked to be almost a decoy CHF at times. Looked very cool in a crisis and used the footy well. Pace may be his only problem at AFL level.
Campbell - didn't get a lot of ground time with BoF playing so well but competed well when he came on and took 2 nice grabs.
Ball - good solid game without being a standout.

Best Players : O'Farrell Dent Vandenberg Barlow Piccioane Ries.

Just my opinion of course but at least I was sober today !!!!

**next week BHH play the curtain raiser to the Hawthorn/Carlton AFL game so get along early and have a look at the kids.

Great to hear that BOFFA played well, i thought i saw some good signs against brisbane in the ansett cup, i hope he can keep it up! All in all it seems as if the majority of blokes played well, even Dent!

Can't wait to see them this weekend at Optus!
