I noticed Farmer managed to play 11 games this year. Most because of the Grimes injury. I suspect that Grimes will slot right in but I'm confused as to where Hellbig will get game time this year.

I suppose the beauty of him is that it could be down back , up forward or in the middle . He'd want to have a big pre season ' does anyone know how he is going ? Has anyone seen him at training?

Would love any picks , reports or footage on the boy?

Re: Brad Hellbig

Reckon he'll be a hard nut skilled midfielder who can chip in up forward or defence with class. Is looking more confident in his latest interview too and also bigger

Re: Brad Hellbig

His kicking really impressed me this year. Is beautiful on both sides, hopefully he can build up a tank so he can use em more often. Would love to see him get a crack in the middle at some sage during the year.

Re: Brad Hellbig

yeah i agree with greggy, we need him to be that tough HFF who can rotate through the middle, does the dirty work and the chasing but can also finish off the hard work.

should play the same role beams does for collingwood

Yep, I also agree he will play HFF (similar role to King), eventually will be a running tagger, replacing Jackson.:D.
Needs to put on some size, which will take a season or two, by then Jackson (hopefully will be gone).:thumbsu:

Re: Brad Hellbig

He'll be a hff that spends time in the guts, also can see him taking Jacko's role in time.

Long term this will be his role. HHF with a rotation possibly through the midfield.

Re: Brad Hellbig

For some reason ive always pictured him as being a Dayne Beams type for us. Maybe a little harder at it. Reckon he will line up on a HFFcome round 1

I think he is a lovely kick too, usually. But gee he had some howlers this year.

Hard at it is good. Would like him to put his hand up for some tough jobs on key playmakers in 2012

Re: Brad Hellbig

To me the recruiting team has done a great job the last couple of seasons and if they can do a similar job this year and the "going forward" the RFC will be well on the way. It's great to see. I just have to restrain my enthusiasum at times and remind myself that it all takes time. It's amazing though what good people who are well resourced can do (recruiters). ALL the more reason for the FTF, great club initiative that will continue to bear fruit for many years to come Well done RFC.

Re: Brad Hellbig

He has poor endurance so a tagging role isn't for him. Similarly, his kicking and offensive weapons are too deadly to be wasted in a tagging role. I could see him start his career as a defensive-minded player, though, as his tackling is absolutely ferocious. He'll end up as an inside mid rotating through HFF if he makes it.

Re: Brad Hellbig

He's a great little bonus. Is part of the nucleus from now on. Fills a half forward role well and will be in midfield rotations.

Re: Brad Hellbig

HFF is perfect for him because he is hard at it and can kick a goal, might be the perfect defensive forward if he can build up his tank

Re: Brad Hellbig

replacement for king is about right, give him another 2 years to get his body right, put on size and build a tank that is ready for AFL footy, by then Kingy;s career will be just about done and he will be ready to step up to the plate.
