Hodges name hasnt been brought up much for possible inclusion in the Australian team.He ha a brilliant summer last summer and now he is backing it up again being the second highest run scorer this season. He just slayed Western Australia for 131.What do you think of him playing for Australia EVER?He just doesnt seem to be brought up much.Good technique, fairly aggressive his only problem may be against the spinners but he is no hack in that department.

Brad Hodge's name was talked about a few years ago when he burst onto the Victorian scene, then he went missing for a couple of years. I think Brad needs to take a leaf out of Matthew Hayden's book and keep making runs, runs and more runs until the selectors take notice.

You just never know what's going to happen... there will be a couple of changes to the middle order in the next couple of years, and if Brad Hodge keeps putting the scores on the board, there's no reason why he cant play for Australia!! :):)

He went missing but last season he came back with a thousand run season. He was talked about for the ashes tour but missed out and now it seems he has been put on the back burner. Why?

Brad hodge definitely deserves to have his name put up there in regards to amiddle-order spot when the changing of the guard occurs.

I think the one thing holding him back is that he doesn't get the big big scores that get the attention. Very consistent but I think he might need a 200 or 2 to get that well-deserved call-up.

Great player, love his attitude towards the game...

But... I think there are a few players are ahead of him, or who the ACB selectors are keeping a closer eye on.

dogboy23,

I agree with you... my point is Brad needs to continue scoring runs, runs and more runs, just like Matthew Hayden did.

There is a simple problem here. He is a VICTORIAN and does not come from New South Wales nor is he a twin!!!!

He's not from Queensland either...Jimmy Maher my f***ing a*se

Hoggy,

In my opinion, the selectors have gone for Jimmy Maher with an eye to opening the batting with Matthew Hayden in the one-dayers. The 2 Queenslanders have a pretty good record in the ING Cup opening the batting, and it will be interesting to see how they go.

SeinDude :)

Maher and Hayden probably have the best opening partnership performance on the domestic ODI scene during the 90s. I hope they go well together against South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Maher hopefully has learnt a few things from the 2 ODI's he played in 96-97.
