Buckley was a lot better in that game than Johnson has been all year.Sigh
You can't be content to enjoy an outstanding, comprehensive finals win and the very real chance of a premiership season in the making. You feel the need to make ill-informed comments about a situation that doesn't even involve your club. Sad and predictable. Wonder if you defended the late struggling career of N Buckley. Was Buckley 'selfish' for playing in the 07 prelim clearly not at 100% full fitness? There just might have been a Jarryd Blair type rookie on the list in hot form that could be guaranteed to run out the game at 100% capacity, which might have gotten Collingwood over the line? See how easy it is for any of us to make ill-informed comments about the circumstances of other clubs.
Johnson put himself out there for all this criticism, he undermined a player yet continues to hold a spot in a side that was a contender when his form, his injury concerns could only hamper their campaign. he is fair game and last nights ridiculous attempts to act the heavy when it was apparent the game was well and truly past his physical capability only served to make him look pathetic. If he was truly team orientated, he should have stood down from the playing group early in the year.
Common sense would have dictated that 34yo's dont recover from achilles injuries, hell, 24yo's struggle with them. yet in all his selfishness, he continued to occupy a spot when his output was greatly diminished. Buckleys 2007 year was of a much higher standard in spite of his prolonged absence that year and his prelim was also of a good standard.
Johnson was too selfish to make the decision, Eade was too weak to make the call. Yet they were all eager to undermine a player in a similar circumstance in terms of injury and performance in Aker. Let alone leak their opinion on Aker in the lead up to his sacking, yet sack him for doing the same. Your club runs a double standard.
