Sigh

You can't be content to enjoy an outstanding, comprehensive finals win and the very real chance of a premiership season in the making. You feel the need to make ill-informed comments about a situation that doesn't even involve your club. Sad and predictable. Wonder if you defended the late struggling career of N Buckley. Was Buckley 'selfish' for playing in the 07 prelim clearly not at 100% full fitness? There just might have been a Jarryd Blair type rookie on the list in hot form that could be guaranteed to run out the game at 100% capacity, which might have gotten Collingwood over the line? See how easy it is for any of us to make ill-informed comments about the circumstances of other clubs.
Buckley was a lot better in that game than Johnson has been all year.

Johnson put himself out there for all this criticism, he undermined a player yet continues to hold a spot in a side that was a contender when his form, his injury concerns could only hamper their campaign. he is fair game and last nights ridiculous attempts to act the heavy when it was apparent the game was well and truly past his physical capability only served to make him look pathetic. If he was truly team orientated, he should have stood down from the playing group early in the year.

Common sense would have dictated that 34yo's dont recover from achilles injuries, hell, 24yo's struggle with them. yet in all his selfishness, he continued to occupy a spot when his output was greatly diminished. Buckleys 2007 year was of a much higher standard in spite of his prolonged absence that year and his prelim was also of a good standard.

Johnson was too selfish to make the decision, Eade was too weak to make the call. Yet they were all eager to undermine a player in a similar circumstance in terms of injury and performance in Aker. Let alone leak their opinion on Aker in the lead up to his sacking, yet sack him for doing the same. Your club runs a double standard.

Aker undermined himself and did so for a long, long time and was given an enormous amount of lattitude from the club well above and beyond the call of duty over that long period of time (a hell of a lot longer than has been made out by the Aker camp). You are simply not privy to the full story.

By all means pot Johnson for his woeful on-field output - I have done the same. He is fair game on that front as you've rightly pointed out. But your comments on Johnson/Aker are extremely off the mark.

Aker is a fool, but he has been vindicated by Johnson continuing and proving himself to be a liability, so in essence Aker is winning the PR battle.

Tell me how this looks, Johnson campaigns to get rid of Aker, yet he himself is a liability but refuses to do the right thing by the club?

The longer he hangs in there underperforming and Aker is making correct calls on his performance, then the worse it looks for the club, Eade and Johnson.

Well Eade has backed Johnson providing he is fit(?) to be a certain starter next week, to late to make any tough decisions now without embarassing a club champion.

personally i was delighted when i saw brad johnson as an inclusion.

he's just about as washed up as any player has been in recent times.

I assume all those praising Aker for apparently being correct in his assessments of Johnson also think Aker should have retired this season before being sacked? He was playing terribly

And eagleton as well. The dogs have made a succession of bad personnel calls this year.

Yeah they have and so be it. Aker and Johnno's form last year was good enough to bring them back for another season unfortunately age sneaks up very quickly. It was a gamble and it didn't pay off.

Now can we talk about how Aker would have been the game winner a little more. I'm compiling a long list of idiots. :D

This. I don't know why people don't understand it. Johnson and Aka both played good footy last year.

They both got injuries THIS year. They're both old. They both stopped playing well. It's hard for a club to have 2 very good players become liabilities at the same time in an attack on a premiership in which they are an integral part of ensuring it's success.

The only difference is Johnson is a club legend who wanted to be there for his club the only way he knows how: by playing. Aka is a piece of shit who played for personal glory and went down screaming, complaining about EVERYBODY but himself when his body gave up. The fact that Johnson happened to have a hand in giving the little worm the flick is purely coincidental. Aka had to go for a multitude of reasons, and Johnson trying to protect his own spot in the team WAS NOT one of them.

There is no doubt Johnson destabilised the Western Bulldogs. We all knew about Akermanis, he talks and talks, he is in the media for a reason, but there was no reason to treat him that way and chuck him out of the club. It was merely a personal vendetta by Johnson against Aker and he put himself before the welfare of the club and it's supporters, as captain he should have known better. It became all the more embarrassing after articles surfaced into how the Western Bulldogs were conducting "internal" club communications.

Thats another problem, a team that had us covered last year, couldnt offer a yelp this year. Aker wasnt going to make the difference, but the 22 that ran on the field sat nite was either a greatly diminished side ability wise compared to last year, or Collingwood have improved vastly.

I am of the opinion its 20% of the former and 80% of the latter.

100% spot on. The bulldogs took something which was nothing, an article where Aker gives gays some advice that he meant in a positive fashion, into a full blown issue.

So they started the snow ball rolling with that, then they do some overblown sacking of Aker that gets national coverage on radio and TV for over a week, inspiring Aker to put more shit into his book than ever was going to be written. Firstly what are the players upset about in the first place about what MAY have been in the book? Dirty laundry about how they acted like morons? Yes we can't have that getting out in public, but maybe they shouldn't have acted like morons in the first place.

Now with Aker sacked he can sit on the sidelines sniping their club and every wrong move they make (which every club makes) and turn it into a clown show every time. Even if the bulldogs win this week, which they likely won't, Akers book is about to come out and publicly embarrass the whole club just before their next final.

The whole board at the Dogs needs to be removed for this ridiculous handling of a situation. It is like they decided to go "How do we make sure we can completely derail our season? I know, lets sack the biggest loud mouth in our team over nothing. You know the guy that we brought over to help our ailing member base. Yeah.. yeah that will do it!!"

The dogs supporters here defending the handling of this situation make me laugh. They went from premiership contender to clown show in the space of one week, everyone outside saw it, and even now when their chickens are coming home to roost they still sit there going "Yeah right move that one".

No Cooney and Morris - both comfortably in our top 5 most important players structurally. Gilbee and Hargrave well down on form. Ward, Higgins and Johnson well down on fitness. There's your 20%.

And your mob has improved significantly, both with extenal trades (Jolly, Ball) and with internal improvement. You were very poor in 2 finals against the top 4 last year and fell in against 5th with one great quarter. You've improved as much between seasons as Geelong did in 07 or St Kilda did in 09.

Johnson is old and injured, what is Neon Leon's excuse? Ah i forgot, it is September.

LOL,

12 months ago you were a kick off a pre-lim after playing one of the best halves of football in years....now you finished below Port Adelaide who were a joke this year!

what's your clubs excuse?

Completely agree with the sentiment, BUT Johnno's involvement wasn't coincidental. HE IS THE CLUB CAPTAIN. It's his job to be involved in such issues. Aker decided to make it personal - and he has form in that arena over many, many years and at more than just one club. Incredible that so many dingbats choose to ignore this and side with him. (Or more likely - side against an opposition club)

Forget about Aker, I think we can all agree that Johnno's a rubbish footballer and a rubbish bloke.

I can't handle watching him anymore. Plays for frees. Thats about all he has left. Needs to just walk away from the game and do it quickly. A massive liability that the club just seems unwilling to cut loose.
Old injured and should not have played last week.
The Dogs obviously think they will lose on the weekend
so they'll give him a send off, if his Achilles doesn't
send him off first.
He was a champ but gone too far now, plus he dudded Acker.

What a ridiculous comment .Acker is setting up for life after football.
Grow a brain, footy is entertainment, Acker is doing what he has a right
to do, and that is, write for newspapers if he wants, and any dumb arse
skipper or coach or CEO doesn't understand that then they are idiots.
Acker is plying his trade footy and entertainment good on him.
He was also a champion footballer, so what if he's a mouth and says what he thinks
that actually takes a bit of guts, gee he even sat down and let his team mates
belittle him in that stupid talk to the team shit, what an absolute disgrace
and Mr Superhero Big Brad Bulldog was a main instigator.
AND he could have been useful last weekend hey.
