Get ********ed.

DO THE TEAM THING FOR ONCE.

Most selfish player i've ever seen in the Red White & Blue.

What did he do to incur your wrath ?

I must have missed it - its hard to work & follow footy at the same time ?

Just a tad bit emo there, Sporty. :p And why aren't you at Kardinia???

Did the same thing he does every week. Looking for the soft and easy touch and not laying shepards. Seriel offender. I can point out two incidents from last week, one thus far today...

Not at Kardinia because i refuse to pay to sit in their grandstand.

Perhaps a bit over the top, but ******** me it gets on my nerves at time. Stepping out to lay a bump would free up West to look for a target rather than get into a hole and then kick it out on the full all because someone either has no awareness or refuses to step out.

Too posh to stand in the Outer like we did in 2002? Geez.... I'd better get back...quick! :p

To get a standing spot, i would have had to spent far more time in Geelong than anyone should.

Gotta agree, sporty.

Was it when he gave a 30cm handball to West....a worse kick....in a worse spot and they both got herded out of bounds by one Geelong player.

Very poor.

That's the one.

And it's not a one off thing - It's a weekly thing.

Agree completely. Every game I go off about Johnson and his failure to shepherd, tackle and chase. Great player offensively but not so defensively. Area that needs to be addressed. Team things are what he needs to work on.

I think telling your captain and best player to get ********ed is slightly over the top, but I did pick up on that piece of play as well.

Why the hell would he hand if off to West in that situation? It was just a pointless move, and then not to give a shepard was just dumb, and obviously selfish footy.

Johnson is a quality player, but he spends far too much time being tackled and in scraps for the footy. For someone of his experience and speed he should be running with the ball a hell of a lot more.

Is this because you guys are still developing as a team and generally struggle to play free flowing attacking football for longer than one passage at a time, or does he simply lack footy smarts?

(Bad luck about Darcy as well)

With all due respect. We have only done the blocking and support actions twice in two years. Against Collingwood this year (sort of, a beginners course version in the last quarter)
And last year against StKilda, where it was so obvious, and worked so well it makes you wonder if they deliberately dumped the procedure?

Well the curse of the captain which has ripped Port and Collingwood and Essendon is now hitting us for the second time in a few years.
BUT lets look at it this way: Rhode's Curse on himself is by far more lethal then anything else (and that even counts Bandy's 23% winning ratio over his career)

Brad Johnson - Best and Fairest 1999, 2002; 2nd Best and Fairest 2003; 3rd Best and Fairest 2000, 2004; All-Australian 1999, 2000, 2002; International Rules Series 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003; Leading Goalkicker 2001 (49); Best Club Person 1996, 1998; AFL Rising Star nominee 1995.

definately playing for himself :p

but in all seriousness, without johno we would be a lot worse off. he is an absolute champion. your correct about him not chasing up and shepereding but he does do a lot of team things.

anyone see him today chase 3 cats around in circles and pressure their disposal? he was buggered afterwards, but thats the kind of desperation needed.

i think as a team the shepherd thing needs to addressed, unfair to single out johno.

He also makes poor position, forever leading wide into space and causing indirect play. I love the bloke and think he is a star but we can't affors to have a champion pushing wide and looking for easy kicks ALL the time.

Granted he plays as a marking forward target ad is undersized for the role but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and play it straight. Either that, or don't provide that option and run hard to position front and square of someone willing to provide a genuine contest.

Disappointing effort today Johnno, not the only culprit but we expect better from you.

Go Captain Johnno.

Dam just realised, does johnno really want it, considering our last two captains(grant and darc) have gone down with season ending knee injuries.

Both @ Geelong tho....We won't play there again this year.

Before the start of the season i was asked by a work collegue, who is a doggies supporter, who i think should be captain.......Darcy or Johnno...my answer was, Johnno has been a great player for us, but in the last few years he has become a little selfish in his play. Darcy was my choice, hands down as he is such a imposing figure and i could see the players would play for him. I am so upset now....please have a Harris recovery.

Who would be the person providing the genuine target? They don't seem in great supply......

Damn straight!

This is the most ridiculous thread i have ever had the displeasure of laying my eyes upon. I think it's you that needs to get ********ed Sporty. Brad Johnson is the heart and soul of our sh.t club, if not for him we would get beat by 15 goals a week. Always take a bigger opponent, always leading and presenting when our other duds are standing still, takes marks that Chris grant could never take, always gets crunched when taking grabs, alaways chasing. Don't know how defensive he needs to be when we cant kick a ********ing goal. Get some perspective and direct your frustrations at the players who derserve it. My god this is poor...

Firstly, abusing any player with obscene language should be kept to the Richmond board. However, you look at Johnno through rose coloured glasses. A champion does also work on the defensive side of the game. Johnno does refuse to sheppard, kicks as many behinds as goals, and struggles to find targets, another example was in the last quarter where he kicked accross ground to a Geelong player in the centre, resulting in a Geelong goal.

His selfishness in some ways can be put down to the fact he tries so hard, but he needs to remember without his teammates he will not play in winning teams.

Johnno is a very good player and an excellent clubman. You cannot question his committment, and courage, however, a champion he is not.
