I think we should get him if we can. He can kick, is a good tap ruckman and is also a very coordinated forward. If we got him you could play Josh Fraser as a forward full time with Ottens in the ruck 60% of the time and Richards in the ruck the other 40% of the time. When Richards isn't rucking he goes to the bench and when Ottens isn't rucking you move him into the forward line with Josh Fraser and Anthony Rocca, while Tarrant moves from a floating half forward to a wingman who can recieve rebound 50's and then kick it into Ottens, Rocca and Fraser. Although it sounds like Richards isn't getting much game time you see that when Rocca retires in around four or five years Richards will have 100 odd games of experience and will be ready to step up to full time duties.

To get Ottens then it goes
Richmond gets :Draft Pick #7, Tristen Walker and McGough/Shaw (depending on who Wallace wants)
Collingwood gets:Brad Ottens.

Theory is that Richmond is struggling for tall backmen, so Walker solves that to some extent. If they get our pick 7 then they have picks 1, 4 and 7. This would then allow them to trade pick 4 for a player of their choice from another club to help cover the loss of Ottens. This means that in the end they have Tristen Walker, McGough/Shaw, Picks 1 and 7 as well as the player traded for pick number 4.

If this went through we could have:

FB: Clement Wakelin Maxwell

CHB: Cole Presti Woewodin

C: Johnson Didak Lonie

CHF: Rocca Tarrant Holland

FF: Davis Fraser Buckley

R: Ottens Licuria Burns

I:J.Cloke Richards C.Cloke Davidson King Lockyer O'Bree Rowe Swan (all rotating depending on injuries)

)

you know something i reckon you guys will go down to the wire on this deal...Cant see too many clubs bettering the No 7 pick....and shaw/McGough thrown in for good measure it may in fact be as good as it gets....

swans and gelong best picks are 14 and 16 ...which arent too attractive and saddington/spriggs are so so

i see what you are saying on a lot of things but the thing im thinking is the pies will be throwing away a (possible) future star with pick seven plus two players who are or should be close to being ion our best 22 for one player
sure walker shaw and mcgough arent anything special...and pick 7 may be a dud, but ottens hasnt done anything real good either, and you may be doing what richmond has done over the years and marked him on potential mostly

but in saying that i also think it would be good to get a player like ottens in the trade period....but is that deal possibly giving up too much for him?
