Brad Symes.....

I think it would be smart to trade a ruckman this year, but only for a player of need. ie. A KPP forward or a pacy midfielder/forward.

Whilst I like Symes, I just don't think he is a priority. We have other HBF types coming through like Pfeiffer.

If Meese is gone (likely), we must hold onto Maric for dear life.

There is no way Sellar should be considered a ruckman. If he can't make it as a KPP, he won't make it in the AFL. Only Jeff White is anywhere near as short as him as a ruckman and he is an absolute diamond. With the introduction of the circle, height has become much more important, hence Street having AFL career. Its been remarkable that White has adapted and has only been because he is already established.

The AFC still wants Tippett to be a KPP it seems and I think that is still the most likely scenario.

Biglands should garner something, but if we lose 2 of our young ruckmen, we should look at keeping him.

Griffin is still way too skinny. He shouldn't be a first option until 2009.

Was reading through Mondays paper today to have a look at Richies TOG and stats from the game Sunday. (Very impressive btw)

Came across the stats from the Centrals game. Brad just racked up a lazy 35 touches (keeping in mind the dodgy SANFL stats in the Tiser). Kills it every week and can't get an AFL game.

Could be an outside Magarey chance too when you consider who he plays for and hes been getting huge numbers and high in the best players almost every week.

After the Bode for Burgoyne debacle, I would be gutted if we gave them Maric for Symes. Mind you, anythings possible. We were considering giving them pick 17 for D White 2 years ago .

if we give away a first round draft pick (even in an apparently weak draft year) in return for Symes &/or White then i'll personally castrate those responsible. I obviously dont rate White, and as for Symes - he may be a good player but we have plenty of similar types and IMO he's not worth a 1st rounder - perhaps a late 2nd rounder. Jericho has shown more at AFL level and is only 4 and a bit months older.

no doubt Port will try to palm White off to some sucker club in return for a
1st round pick

ROFL!

Jericho, hahahahaha....

I wouldnt go that far. They are very different players, so it is very difficult to measure them against each other. On the trade table they are probably going to attract similar levels of interest, but from different clubs needing different things. Symes will be attractive to clubs looking for a good honest reliable HBF with some improvement to come, while Jericho would be more attractive to a club looking for an athletic HF or wingman with a bit of flair.

Personally I dont think either will be significant AFL players.

Eh?!

Symes has proven to be a ball magnet at AFL level, just needs to start getting it in the right places, which is apparently the instruction he's been given while back at Centrals.

Symes is a gun in waiting, don't worry about that.

I totally agree DT.

I rate him highly, and would love the Crows to trade for him.

You can teach them many things but reading the play is a natural talent - you've got it or you haven't.

Symes has got it.

Me three, apart from the Crows comment.
He is a natural ball magnet and has been working on his other areas, no different to say Ebert when he was starting off.
I personally see a big big future if he adds another string or two to his bow. If he doesn't he will still be AFL standard to a bit above AFL standard but not special. His potential far outweighs his trade value atm so I hope we do not trade him.
