Watched it and was still bloody surprised to see him playing in the backline, at stages deep. I still maintain that if he is thrown on to the wing he can be a very effective, attacking player.

I watched the game and cant think of any player on the field who was more costly and panicked under pressure more than Symes. The occassion got to him. I would persist with him as we have invested in him heavily but let me tell you champ another performance or two like that in a row and he can go and win another flag with the dogs.
I agree with you on Doughty the guy gets belted before he gets on the ground by our supporters. And as for laying of the praise for VB, no chance! He is going to be a 250 gamer for our club

Ok SON...I take it you are willing to bag Symes after one game or maybe 3? If so, I would have to believe you are another one of the find a player and bag endlessly mob. I like the heavy investment claim, we got rid of Mattner for goodness sake on the chance we have found a better player in Symes. Big deal, both are never going to be gods of the football game. As for VB where did I say he wasn't going to be a fine footballer? Can you give me a cast iron guarantee he will play 250 games for the Crows? No-one can. He is a good young player making his mark just like Symes. All footballers have good and bad games over the course of their career. I suppose super gods like VB, pumped up by some is immune to this.

Firstly 'DAD', Bigfooty is about giving opinions and I am entitled to mine as you are yours. I and many others thought Symes was very ordinary last Sunday. If you watched the game and were happy with that performance good for you. I haver never said he needs to be dropped or that he wasnt trying, he had a shocker and I am sorry if my opinion has upset you.
Secondly, I believe a number 28 draft pick and 4 pre-season games is a big investment. My statement "heavy" may of not been the correct term but our club has paid a solid price for Symes. I have not bagged Symes once or the decision to recruit him but I stand by the fact he had a shocker on Sunday just like any player can.
As for being a supporter who bags our own players at any oppurtunity, once again you are wrong. From Jericho to Doughty I respect them all. I have NEVER bagged Saint Neil, even after the Massie/Franklin Shirley/Johnson match ups.
As for VB, I have more faith in him making it than any other player on our list, once again my opinion and who knows I may be wrong but again Im entitled to it as you are yours.
As for Symes he is in my DreamTeam and as a one eyed Crows man I hope as much as anyone he has a blinder this weekend as I also hope Jericho and Doughty fire. Take it easy mate

I think Symes will get better. I was quite upset in losing Mattner, when in position he was a good contributor and a hard tackler. Symes disposal is questionable but his hard ball gets is quite good. AFC should use him for his upside, inside midfielder.

A few adjustments for our style of play to be made and then he will be a good player for us. He is now playing at the club he wants to be at.
