Not really what Geelong needs.

Key forwards in:

Ottens - Was good, with a full preseason will be much better
Mooney - Great season, just needs to get his temper under control
N.Ablett - Probably the most improved player in 2006 on the list
Hawkins - Big raps

Backup in:

Playfair - Poor season - was good in 05 before jaw was broken
McCarthy - Bit of a hack but could be useful if absolutely necessary
Grima - Needs another year

I just don't see why we need a key forward. I think next year and certainly in 08 we will have one of the best key forward setups in the league.

Granted Bradshaw would be a certain starter but I think Ablett has shown he will be ready for a regular gig in the 1's in 2007. Hawkins will no doubt get some game time. Ottens and Mooney would be regular starters in any team. Key forwards are not where our weakness lies.

K.Simpson, Mattner, McCloud, Wirrapanda, Gilbee , S.Burgoyne. These are the types we need. Ball carriers with great delivery.

.
Big call, Mooney and Ottens kicked less than Bradshaw between 'em. The addition of a guy who will kick 50-60 goals a year should be heavily considered, especially if it can be done without Given away our draft 1st round pick.

We would be a much better team with Bradshaw at FF and Ottens rucking 75% of the game, than Ottens at FF and King in the ruck.

cant argue with that but I wouldn't want to lose any early draft picks for bradshaw. However I would consider trading kelly and another borderline player form him (clears a spot on our list for drafting that way).

I'd do Kelly, dunno if theyd be interested in any of our deadwood though. Probably have to part with our second rounder.

I rate Bradshaw, he is a gun.

But it would cost Geelong majorly in terms of development. Ottens spending more time in the ruck means less time for Blake. Bradshaw up forward means Hawkins and N.Ablett will get next to no time. These players are too good to be running around in the two next year. They are ready for the step up IMO.

There will still be room for them if they are good enough. We play two rucks and at least 3 tall forwards. Bradshaw would be a great acqusition.

Would be great for us Bradshaw he would blody come close to kicking 100 a year bradshaw yes he is welcome Blake not going to be our next ruckman Hawkins is very young half a year in vfl ezy NAblett still at CHF Swap for kelly

Bradshaw could teach Hawkins and ablett plenty. He had a great year was double and triple teamed as Brown was injured and aker played down back when he did play. Imagine chappy and gaz roving his contests. Would straighten us up, allow N ablett to play at CHF and means MOST importantly that the tomahawk has the 3rd or 4th best defender if and when he is ready for the 1's. (Look at Fevola it taken years to play consistent footy and it took Jonathon Brown 2-3 years to start to tear it up)

Also mark Blake can play. mark my words this kid can play. 3 years ago people were calling sandilands a dud. Lade is 30 and had his best year. BIG BLOKES TAKE TIME!

Totally agree. Why bring in Bradshaw when we have Ottens, Mooney, Nathan, Hank, Hawkins etc. That is enough big guys, sure he did kick more goals that most of our forwards, but that's because the Lions have nothing else to kick to. Therefore he would have greater opportunities.

What we lack is quality skilled players who are fast. We pump the ball into the forward line more than most teams, but don't have anyone at the bottom of the pack as Ablett and Chapman are playing further up the ground.

Whilst I stated earlier in the year that I don't think we need Aker, I now think we do. His pace and ability to kick goals from nothing are what we need. Also more time out of SJ is required for us to be a dominating team again.

We don't need Bradshaw to teach anyone, that job is supposed to be done by the coaching staff, i.e. GET RID OF HINKLEY !!!

Why Bradshaw, Ottens is just as good a mark and can ruck also, wouldn't that be a better playing mentor for a young up and coming player who is tall ??

We had the opportunity to get him three-four years ago but decided against it. Cook said because he hadn't kicked a goal in a final.

Please tell me you're kidding mate, I know we were interested in him a while back, but just thought we couldn't work out a satisfactory deal.

If we were in the position to grab him and turned it down, that would have to be a blunder of monumental proportions surely, as he would have been exactly what the cats were looking for.

Bradshaw is a gun!!!
The young players Nathan Ablett and Tom Hawkins will learn more playing alongside a great player like Bradshaw than from any coach!!

Bradshaw is also capable of playing down back at times as well which I like as it adds flexibility. What it would change with our structure though is ottens would no longer play FF but instead could play as our 1st ruck changing off the bench and going forward occassionally to streach the opposition backmen with his height.

Rumour persists in the paper today that we are interested in Bradshaw. What would you give up for him?

Depends how badly we want him. If we want him badly then James Kelly and our second round. I don't think James Kelly would get the deal over the line by him self. Maybe a fourth rounder with Kelly.

Not a good deal for someone Bradshaw's age. As a few have said before we have some big bodied KPP players. We need a mobile foward. Kelly and the 2rd round pick would go close to getting a younger Tarrant who in my mind would complement us beautifully up forward.

Ottens, Ablett and Tarrant plus our 3 smalls of Chappy, GAJ and Dog = Lethal

Development? We've been "developing" now for about 7 years! It's time that we trade dead wood for serious, mature players and have a decent crack at the Flag. Otherwise all we'll ever do is finish mid-table and planning the next years' "development".

I think we should have a serious crack at Bradshaw, would add some good experience to the forward line and isn't scared to actually kick a goal (as it seems so many of our players are, anyone else ever noticed this?).

Would also take some of the heat off developing players like Hawkins & Ablett and would free up Otto up for the ruck (its where we are gonna need him, as King's body just can't hold up).

Although in saying this I'm not sure about Bradshaw's pace and whether or not he'd be able to place enough defensive pressure on opposition backmen. We seemed to go back to our old problem of allowing the ball to be run out of our forward line far too easily this year to be slaughtered on the rebound (the sight of a big lumbering forward trying to give chase consistently was horrible!).

So if a suitable deal can be done and Bradshaw's price isn't too high (which I've heard it is) he would be a good player for us.
