I stuck it on the end of the injury thread but no one seems interested, so ...

Daniel Bradshaw will have scans on his knee on Thursday to determine if he's clear to resume training the following week.

If so, he says it will be a day-to-day proposition, and it will be some weeks before he can think about playing again, and will have to come back in the reserves to see if his knee holds up.

He does, however, admit his career may already be over.

Read your other post in the injury thread and i wish him all the best, would love to see him play a big role the next couple of years. If we are to have a big year and impact on finals we need him at his best kicking goals and taking marks in the forward 50.

I geuss everyone has already had a say on Bradshaw and his injured knee add to that the excitement factor of Reid playing well in his position, 1 win, 1 draw to start the season and has slipped back a little in the expectations.

Will be a massive blow if he pulls the pin, I know our future doesn't depend on 32 year old but he bring so much to the side. Hopefully we'll get the good news :thumbsu:

Rhyceshaw not Bradshaw is the only Shaw to be sure of Goat - for firsts football contention.

We both know.
If it ain't Reid and White:diamond: - it ain't right.

It will be unfortunate if he doesn't make it back onto the paddock, but is becoming less and less of a shock. As others have said, the emergence of Reid and the continued improvement of White (who was pretty good tonight) as well as Johnston and TDL makes the blow a little softer.

Reid and White getting consistent game time and playing well is a positive for us and softens the blow somewhat of Bradshaw potentially never playing again. Should help Johnston as well, hopefully Bradshaw will stay on and help us out with coaching in that area.

I had been of the opinion prior to season start that we may well have seen the end of C Bolton and Bradshaw due to the length of recovery\not recovering.

Was getting concerned that we'd get through 3/4's of the year with White\Reid\Goodes as the 3 talls and then have to reshuffle structures in the lead up to finals as Bradshaw became fit.

Obviously his talent and footy smarts will be missed but going forward I'd prefer to be working with the future forward line without disruption.

The future is now!

This.

Realistically, even if he does get back on the field, he's unlikely to remain uninjured for any significant amount of time anyway.

If we are challenging for a flag come finals, Bradshaw would be a risky proposition, I can't quite decide whether the sub rule improves his chances of selection or if it means he's too big a risk. I guess we can have Everitt as a sub who can come in for Bradshaw or go down back if required.

I think it's admirable how positive Swans fans are noting that without him it's about our developing future.

However, if we want to be a top four side this year I think we need him in the team.

Hopefully the scans are positive but there seems a certain resigned to fate feeling from him.

Really hope he comes through OK and gets back on the field. People saying we don't need him are deluded, even on one leg he's easily the best FF at the club. We have Bradshaw, and a midfield to feed him, and we can kick a winning score against anybody.

At full strength, we have the list to be the second best team in the competition, and if things go right on the day, we can beat Collingwood. That makes this year a potential Premiership year. Forget the future, the present is now.

have to agree here. Braddys knee will just not hold up for any length of time it seems, and I would hate to see him go down part way through an important game later in the season, when finals are beckonning, not just for his own disappointment, but for the team. At the end of the day however, he is a gun, and must be given a chance to fire if he can.

With his boys signed in the Swans Academy and the torp goal vs the Lions last year, he has already done more than enough for us. For his sake I hope he gets back because he is deserves to go out like the legend he is. If not for the profile of Lynch and Brown this guy would have been seen as an all time great.

Looks as though there might be still life in Braddy's knee. We'll have to see how it behaves at training. He would be a hell of an asset though.

Should his knee be reacting positively to training (or at least not negatively), I wonder how long it will take the coaches to throw him into the 2's.

Do you want to keep him in cotton wool for a bit so to speak and just let him train for a few extra weeks to make absolutely certain his knee is ready to go, or do you put him in ASAP to the reserves (given he's passed the needed training requirements)?

I'd tread on the side of caution. We're only at round 4 atm, we need him for the run to the finals so if he needs a few extra weeks of training so be it.

Having said that, his knee may just blow out again with more training...

If this was the case, would the best option be to just pull the pin on his career? If he couldnt get through training, no way would he get through a game.

Seem to be treading on thin ice regarding his knee. Still stand by comments in an earlier thread we'll be lucky to get a dozen games out of him for the remainder of his contract if we can get him playing again.

I think you're right. In fact, I think if he has one more big set back, he'll do it himself. From what I've read, he seems to understand that he is very close to the end.

I think I read that he would be heading to Wodonga.

F/S should precede any poxy zone.
If Bradshaws boys are the business, I hope they play for the Loins.
Dads permission permitting of course...

If he gets through training I doubt he will play 2's, if he does it will be half a game.
I then imagine he will be the subee for us, come off for someone when he's spent.
