Off topic a little but my best mate got mugged last week for his wallet and phone in the city. Got kicked into a little and now he is really scared. I am so angry because he is the nicest bloke who wouldn't hurt a fly. A scumbag asked him for directions and as he was talking to the guy, another blRoke kinged him from behind. Then they kicked him in the ribs a few times. Anyway is there a thread on BF about something like this? Feel like I need to vent a bit more and get some support from some others who have been victims/friends of victims. Thanks in advance guys.

That is awful.

When I was about 14, our house got broken into three times within 12 months. I had a gut feeing who did the first two break-ins but my parents refused to pass on the info to the cops, saying if I was wrong we'd cop a defamation suit.

In a nutshell, I had a falling out with a few 'mates' a few weeks prior to our first break-in. There were a few tell-tale signs it was this group of 'mates' - such as spraying the front door with tomato sauce (as I hate tomato sauce), and my sister discovered they had also found Dad's...err...magazine collection (which we had...er...discovered some time earlier) and had made a couple of phone calls from the...er...advertising in said magazines. Nothing of significance was stolen, which added to my suspicions of who it was.

The first two break-ins were within about 2-3 weeks of each other (and both on Sunday's). Then about 8-9 months later a couple of other mates, whom I lost contact with, came over one Sunday out of the blue for a visit. I wasn't home, but they still hung around my place, and chatted to Dad and my sister for a few hours. The following week, we were broken into, and I never saw the two mates again. Again, nothing of significance was stolen, the worst was a jar containing cash for my sister's basketball team's raffle. Again, we all suspected who it was, but for some reason Dad wouldn't pass the info onto the cops.

Needless to say by the end of that year we found another place to live in, and I found out that all the people I'd suspected of committing the break-ins all ended up in trouble with the law later in life...

As promised here is the software i referred to in my earlier story preyproject.com

edit: just watched the demo, looks legit to me.
Yeah goes alright at the very least you get photos of whoever is using your computer.

My work got broken into a couple times in the space of a few days about a month or two ago. As it was a pub, there were a lot of bottles and alcohol, many expensive up on the shelves. One side of the bar is for the pub side whilst the other is the bistro so all of the main drinks like Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Johnnie Walker, Bacardi etc were on the bar side whilst the bistro side had shit like Advokat and the shitty drinks no one ever gets. Also on that side was Frangelico.

The thieves broke in, saw a fridge of Jack cans, drank a couple right in front of a camera right next to the door that leads to the bottleshop, full of drinks. Then they steal all the shitty Advokat drinks on the bistro side of the bar, they leave the most expensive one being Frangelico there.

****ing idiots. They could have grabbed whatever they wanted and yet they took Creme de Menthe and Blue VOK and all these shitty drinks.

My ex-gf's work got broken into. They had never been broken into in the 20 years or so they'd been there, but for some reason the owner decided to get some security cameras installed. I'm not sure if this was spurred on by an attempted robbery but anyway, about a week or 2 later they got broken into. The ex-gf said that when they looked at the tapes the robber slide around the shop out of sight of the cameras as if he knew where they were. He broke into the safe under the cash register and stole a couple of grand. Possible inside job i'd say.
