EXCLUSIVE - Rottnest Razorbacks today have been rocked by the news that superstar ruckman Dean Cox has today met with head coach Peterss and has put in a request to be traded.
The reasons are below:
Cox said "It is with great regret that i have asked Peterss for a trade to aniother club. My reason for this is personally family related, I have an aunty over east who isnt in the greatest health and i am one of the only ones left who can help her get back on track, Dont get me wrong i love this club and they have been great for me and i really dont want to leave but family comes first and i need to be there to look after her"
Peterss said "It certainly isnt the greatest news but sometimes in life you cant have it all your own way and the news about Dean's aunty over east certainly is sad news. We would love to keep him but we would regret not letting him move to a club closer to his aunty only to find out she has passed away etc."
When asked about what the club is lookign for in terms of trade value Peterss said this:
"Im pretty sure everyone knows that he is without a doubt the premier ruckman in the competition who is practically a midfielder aswell as a ruckman and thats what makes him so valuable. In terms of what we are looking for in a trade we would be wanting a top 5 pick plus a young player already in the system or for those without a top 5 pick then we would require an already established ruckman as a replacement for Dean plus a quality player on top of that. Of course we will listen to all offers but thw tqo outlined above would be the bare minimum to acquire his services."
Cox also added "I know i am out of contract but if a trade cannot be reached with another club then both myself and Peterss have agreed that i will stay at the razorbacks and keep in constant contact with my Aunty and take time off when required etc."
Peterss finished the press conference by saying "We have already had an offer by one club and it involved a ruckman and a young player who is quality and they look like the club most likely at this stage to get Dean's services however all clubs are urged to send trade offers my way via PM and we can take it further then. Offers sent via MSN will also be accepted. Any other way and we will ignore them"
It is believed a decision on the destination of Cox with a trade will be made by Sunday evening. If no deal has been reached then we expect him to stay at the Razorbacks next season and beyond.
