This guy was on your rookie list last year and performed well in the two VFL reserves games I saw him play.

What was the reasoning behind getting rid of him after just one year?

Big men take a while to develop and I think Melbourne treated this guy poorly.

He's better than that and he's gone back to the country to play, but he should at least be playing VFL football.

Wasted talent in my opinion.

He's playing for Benalla in the Goulburn Valley this season. Will be a very handy player in a side which has also recruited Mark Porter.

Yes, I read that in this week's edition of Inside Football.

But why did Melbourne get rid of him?
 
From what I've read in training reports he has no football brain and his best feature was his height.

Melbourne has a great track record with rookie ruckman (Simmonds, Jolly, Jamar for example) and gave them every opportunity, obviously Van Schaik didn't show the coaching staff enough.
