How will Goddard be remembered in terms of his place in AFL history?

I was looking at an old thread/post from bigfooty from about 8 years ago and the poster said he will be an all time great.

Not sure he will reach those heights, but his final quarter in the 2010 first GF was one of the greats.

Good player who had maybe two top seasons but is a deadset w***er.

Explains why ex team mates refused to shake his hand the first time he played against St Kilda

How bad is it when blokes who take dick pics together won't even shake your hand?

Very talented player.

Terrible leader.

Very poor role model for younger players.

Comes across as a flog of a bloke.

Shouldn't play another game of AFL footy.

Came to Essendon when the club was at its lowest point. Could easily have stayed in the background. But instead he stepped up and became the spokesperson for the club and the players. Yes he wears his heart on his sleeve and can’t always control his emotion. But the character he showed during those dark days should be what defines him and this is what I will remember him for.

How can you know this if you don't hear what he's saying on the field, and generally have zero idea about what he's like at the club.

He's probably got some great qualities to be part of the leadership group and his passion/emotion on the field is just his style of leadership.

hardly a big deal.

He has been great for Essendon when they needed someone like him, and i think he won a B&F once and always gets close to a B&F each year.

Lol at implying Brendan Goddard could ever be humble enough to stay in the background of anything

Probably a hall of famer. Was the best player in the game for a small patch. Probably gone a year to long, has lost his ability to jump and run, can't impact aerially anymore or apply enough pressure, but shouldn't really effect his legacy as a quality player. Thanks BJ, helped us through a tough trot.
