Youd think Clarkson would have played him on Saturday night with the youth policy and all, he wasn't even on the extended 6 man bench, could it be Clarkson thinks the boy cant cut it at AFL level.

Please Discuss.

Add him to a list as long as your arm that has probably been put in Clarksons "question mark on future for this club."

IIRC though I did think he'd had some off-season surgery or an interupted pre-season build up for a niggle/injury of some sort? Somebody that gets down to training may know better than I do. So that may be one of the reasons behind his lack of being named for last Saturday.

Personally haven't seen him do enough to think he's going to make it. But he does take a good grab, is a fair size, might become a decent enough flanker in time I suppose, for the lads sake and for ours, I hope so.

Seasons end we'll all know better.

I don't think he'll make it.

Happy to be proven wrong but he doesn't seem capable of playing anywhere bar a non-key position role in the backline. With Smith, Hodge, Jacobs, Beaumont and Thurgood ahead of him for this type of role, I don't see him getting too many opportunites.

brennan can play, and he'll take over from beaumont sooner rather than later. Why do people keep talking about having too many half back flanks by the way? its called depth and in the backline you can never have too much depth.

I think Brennan will be a real player for us in the future. Not necessarily tall enough to play in a Key Position but does play tall and is a great overhead mark. Will be a big improver this year.

We will all be pleassed with Brenan and I dont think it will take too long.I have seen a few games in Boxhill and i liked his ability too read the game he seams to have a football brain which you either do or dont.Any one who can play well when the rest are crap is a good footballer (Geelong last year). There are too many players ,who can play well when the team plays well, but very few who play well when everyone else isnt.

It was funny watching Beaumont again the Saints last week. He looked like a fat kid in a health food shop - didn't know what to do.

I can't quite understand all the Beumont criticism - not when the point of comparison ought to be Jacobs. In my book, we wasted pick 6 on a soft, slow defensive flanker who refused to go near his opponent. If he was injured, he shouldn't have been playing. He was good on Neitz first up, but then again, Neitz looked to be struggling that game and was coming back from injury.

Given what we gave up for Beumont (Loats in a 3 way deal - if my memory serves me right), his return was very respectable. Can't say the same for Jacobs. If he plays like he did last year, he should be shot out of the same cannon as Holland come the end of the year.

Sorry about my spelling of Beaumont :)

Oh don't worry, I think Jacobs is terrible too... it's just that he didn't play on Saturday night so my memory's dimmed.

Alot of supporters, even Hawthorn ones seem to share your view however I don't. I think Jacobs will be a real asset, held down full-back when required for Essendon and was a very good player there. Was blitzing at the start of last year then got injured and never seemed to recover or get back to that level. I'm looking forward to him proving alot of people wrong. Or myself

Jacobs was used as mister fixit by Sheedy mainly in the back line but to good effect in the forward too.He has played well on talls where really he is only a tallish flanker. He is a good mark and hopefully will be able to do what Graham did for years down back and a little up forward.
P>S I liked Graham and if others werent on contracts I would have kept him and possibly gave him a leadership job ,but thats another story.

What, chip sideways and turn the ball over?
Graham was built to only be a HBF and was used everywhere they had a problem.FB CHB BP HF and Wing.He should have been played on the 3rd best forward but was usually put on the best.I think he performed consitantly for someone playing out of his true position.

Reckon we should play him forward?
Probably not a bad idea. Is strong overhead and creative. good reader of the ball and has a good footy brain. Dunno though, is alot of quality options in the forward line this year. Might struggle to force his way in there ;)
Definately worth a try IMO.
