Just dropping in from the Tigers site guys with a query for a bunch of authentic Crow fans. Something that's been on my mind for a while ....

Q. Why isn't Brett burton the best player in the league ?

Let me elaborate ... not why don't media types THINK he's the best player, because he's obviously not. He is probably not even in the best five at Adelaide, but you guys would be better judges than me on that.

I mean, a guy with such unbelievable athleticism, a great pair of hands, beautiful balance, good ball skills, a long raking (and often straight!) kick, and seemingly a bit of mongrel in him ...

Just what IS stopping him from being another Ablett (the real one that is ... not the latest imposter at Geelong)

Is his mind not right, or is he not as conscious of his fitness as he should be ... or have I just been lucky enough to catch his few better games?

Just asking ....

Hes got agility,spring, can kick a goal whereas he couldnt once upon a time. Hes got some game time up with 50 odd matches, can get out of a tight situation - in a nutshell hes an athlete.

He does run hot and cold like a hornbag on uppers...

I swear I seen him take 3 Marks of the Year in one game at Optus a few years back; maybe todays the day


I still think hes not consistent enough

Burton can do the spectacular stuff, but tries doing this too often & hence as topjars mentioned he is too inconsistent. He should concentrate more on doing the basics well (eg. lead, mark, kick & goal) rather than trying to look good. He can become a regular matchwinner if he starts using his brain a bit more. This year he played too much dumb football & quite frankly needs a kick up the arse when this happens.
