Been a fan of his for a few years now, can bowl 140+ with good swing, another one from Tasmania's production line of quickies

Fell away quite a bit last year and couldn't get a game for the 2nd half of the season, apparantly has worked very hard and so far has looked good. A spitting image of Hilfenhaus and bowls like him too.

Top bloke to boot. Will be a key for Tassie's title defence this year and will be required to bowl the most overs each innings in PC when Hilfy isn't playing.

Basically won us the one day title a couple of years back with Bevan. Bevo made the runs, Geeves took the wickets. Last year was disappointing but a good start to this season. We will need him to keep it up if Hilfenhaus ends up as the drinks waiter for Australia.

He is finally taking wickets without getting carted for over five an over each match. Seems to have stepped up now that Hilfy is travelling the world in search of a Test spot.

Geeves has started the ODD season well.

It's good to see another young quick making an impact at that level.

Another solid one-day game, he's really been on fire lately for us.

37 off 29* and 2/57(took some stick late in the game...)

He opened the bowling over Hilf, so it shows that he's come along way since he debuted bowling those 120km/h medium pacers...

He was the main pace man for Marsh last night. Opened the bowling and closed the innings over Hilf. it shows the respect Marsh has for this guy. And his lower order hitting was the difference between the teams last night.

He's also a pretty impressive personality. A very smooth talker.
I was very surprised how nice he was to the Victorian fans when he was fielding on the boundary yesterday, and some of them were really annoying.
Didn't mind having a chat and he seemed pretty funny.
Hilfenhaus on the other hand...

I have talked to him at a pura cup match and he is very friendly and easy to talk to, like he said to me and my mates how did we go in our cricket on the weekend, who we played for etc, last night while i was on the boundary at the cricket last night i also noticed Ben Hilfenhaus was not very talkative, i know he had to sign a lot of autographs but he didnt really interact with the younger kids, although they were quite annoying.

Geeva is a top bloke, and would have trime for everyone. A very impressive cricketer, and turning into a genuine all-rounder. Mark my words, will be in the national selectors' minds in the next 12 months (at least for T20). Have always been a fan of his cricket, and also personality.

Yeah, the ones next to me wouldn't shut up, kept saying they'd dropped their pen so Hilfy would come over and pick it up. The thing is Hilfy didn't seem very polite about it, like Dave Hussey didn't want to sign autographs, so he said no and apologized. Hilfy just ignored everyone. A batsmen was taking ages to get to the crease and Hilfy just stood on the boundary and wouldn't sign any autographs even though there was plenty of time to. I saw Hilfy sign one autograph and he was fielding in front of me for ages.
Geeves was great though, really friendly. He noticed I was looking at him so he smiled at me.
(sorry to turn this into a Hilfy bitching thread!)

I would love to have him in the Victorian side, and I reckon he's probably one of my favourite non-Victorian players. Quite surprised he opened the bowling over Hilfenhaus but he got Blizz out so it must have worked.

Banger is a top bloke and boy there are some great stories surrounding him, Club Surreal dance floor in the early 00's comes to mind!

Many a great story starts with "Remember that time at Club Surreal when.....". I feel sorry for the youth of Hobart that that place is no longer.

Some interesting posts here guys:thumbsu:.
On Brett Geeves, my stepbrother says he works at his high school as a PE teacher. I don't know the guy but have seen him talking to the commentators on fox sports, he seems like a funny guy. I also don't know about the stories with him in Club Surreal (for the record Gunnar, Club Surreal once won a national award for best entertainment venue, have you ever been to Tassie before?) but bet they are legendary. He probably hasn't realised his potential until quite recently, but he's gotten himself fitter than ever and, with Hilfenhaus sometimes on national duties and Wright and Griffith injured, he's certainly taken his opportunity to get back in the pura cup side. He's been talked about for a while as a potential one-day player for Australia, he takes wickets and gets runs down the order too.
Now onto Hilfy, he seems like a nice guy, but he's obviously shy (has anyone seen him in front of a camera). I doubt he's rude or means to be rude.
If you want to know about cricketers who will or won't sign autographs, I was watching the Tassie vs. Sri Lanka game. Lasith Malinga, who wasn't playing, seemed to go out of his way to sign his. Two players who wouldn't were Farveez Maharoof and Ishara Amarasinghe, depsite fielidng on the boundary and having kids waiting on the fence to. That is rude. For the Tassie guys, George Bailey did and was polite and laid-back, but Travis Birt was quite unfriendly, looking grumpy. In fact, when a kid asked if he could get his teammates to come out, he said maybe if you asked them they might. Okay, but when Birt didn't like the way he asked, he rudely told him to ask nicely. Okay, fair point, but there's no need to grunt about it. This is my say on everyone's say!:p
