Alot to like about his game as Dennis would say.
Outstanding debut and one of our best players today.
He should retain his place in the 22.

Well done son!!! Not alot to be happy about today but with a debut like Jones, there is some hope for the future, Sampis effort was not bad either. Mark of the year contender.

Disposal let him down a couple of times but definitely a great debut. Good size too

Yeah a solid debut. We seem to have some good young small prospects which doesnt really help us. Selwood, Waters, Nicoski and Jones all look the goods and Butler yet to get a chance. But young talls is another matter altogether.

Hi. After a bit of info on Jones, since I know nothing about the 'fringe' West Coast players.

Does anyone think this game was a bit of a 'fluke' or did he really show something that suggests he will be a good player for the rest of the season?

Kicking myself for not watching the replay of the game.

How has his form been in the WAFL?

Thanks to anyone the bothers to reply.

I'd say we're pretty happy with him- up until about feb this year, I'm betting about 5/10 wc supporters wouldn't have had the foggiest who he was- for some occult reason i thought he had brown hair, and spent the whole of sunday getting him mixed up with Adam Hunter.

His WAFL form over the last month or so has been exceptional BOG or thereabouts for a while. Worsfold has apparently been paying close attention to him because he's been in attendance at a number of WAFL matches to see Jones show his stuff.

As for his game on Sunday, he started off slowly and made a few obvious 'rookie' errors, but got better as the game went on- in the second half when our defenders were seriously under the pump he stood up pretty well under the pressure and seemed to get better and better each time the ball went near him- took some good marks and managed to play tight defensively and still set up play.

With Lynch back this week Jones will probably be shuffled to the flanks, but he's definitely done enough to hold his spot, and I'm tipping him to really cement his place in the side over the next month or so- very handy defender because he has size and can mark it, but is sufficiently mobile to play on the typical midsized flankers.

I've heard that Lynch (if he returns this week) might play CHF.

any chance of this happening?

Not sure but I wish we had two Lynch's one for CHF and one for CHB.

I said in here 3 weeks ago... that I had seen Brett Jones play in the WAFL for Claremont... I had no idea he was even on the Eagles list... but I saw him and thought who the hell is this guy... he can play... how was he missed by the AFL scouts!?!? Then to my surprise I couldnt believe it when I saw he was on the Eagles rookie list.. I knew he would be elevated sooner rather than later.

As far as being a fluke.... no definately not if what I had seen in the WAFL previous was any guide. He was in the Western Warriors cricket squad last year and his old man won the Rothmans Medal in Australian Soccer....... so he obviously oozes sporting ability out of his skin.

Lynch at CHB and Gaspar at CHF.

Ideally yes but Gasper has to start contesting more!

By the way I said two Lynch's that means one can play at CHB and the other playes at CHF so we get both our wishes. :D
