Anyone read the piece on Brett Peake in Today's West?
Peake reckoned that the media had "beefed up the hype on Fyfe" and that Sydney were the team to beat this year. He then went on to say that Matt Priddis was another good chance for a brownlow. It all seemed a bit strange, like there might be a little bitterness or resentment towards Freo.

Seems legitimate that the west would interview Peake and talk about everything else but Peake himself! That tells the real story!
Brett who?

I got the same feeling. The whole interview seemed a bit odd.

But the Press has a way of twisting things in strange ways.

i read that and was like the same wtf.

Hardly a club legend giving feedback on the state of play. Surely someone else with more cred could step forward. An opinion is like an a$$hole...everyone has one.....

Move on

Fyfe deserves all the hype he's generating. Sydney and Hawks probably are still the teams to beat and Priddis is only a good chance for a 2nd brownlow because of the way votes are given, he's still a very limited footballer.

This is spot on. It wouldn't surprise me if Priddis did win the Brownlow again. The umps obviously love him and everything WC. Us on the other hand...

Brett is entitled to his opinion. As mentioned in an earlier post my opinion of him was that he slipped over a lot - could run though - would do well at Carlton these days.
Sydney and Hawthorn ARE the teams to beat. He's right.
Priddis is thereabouts in the Brownlow race.... HOWEVER
he can go eabod's if he thinks the reports on FYFE are a media conspiracy. Fyfe is conspiring all on his own to be the best.

Of course a guy who ran sideways and backwards to avoid any contact is going to say the best contested ball player in the league is overhyped. He probably doesn't even understand why Fyfe takes on tacklers.

No chance, like Swan winning the year after he was seen to be dudded but generally agreed not have played as well, they will be looking unconsciously to cut his votes. Won't finish in the top 3.

Bitter or resentful towards one or more of your previous coaches for delisting you? Why not consider umpiring as a secondary career choice. Adjudicate others in skills you wish you possessed! Piss off all your old friends! Reward who you want! Anything goes!

Nah. From memory Fyfe averages the most Brownlow votes of any player ever. The umps love him, as far as voting goes anyway.

Surely Peake must love Ross - he extended his career way longer than I thought it was ever going to last.

I played cricket with him a coupla months ago. We spoke about him leaving Freo. He didn't bag Freo at all and said he nearly came back with Ross in 2012. Loves Ross Lyon.

I'm shocked at this thread. People read the West?

Ha ha. Never, ever buy it but if I happen to get a chance to see one in a cafe or some such, I'll have a look.

I haven't read the Peake article but I can say that I've read about 8 articles over the last couple of years about an ex Docker player and in every single one of them they've all said that they love watching Fyfe play over any other player in the game currently

Yeah, I think he'll suffer the way Judd did in 2011, where he had a better year than 2010 but didn't poll as much because his 2010 Brownlow was seen as undeserved.
