Very impressive game against the best midfield in the business and it is a pity he did his hammy. Looks like he can definately play, and I have no doubt he will be the best player we picked up in the 2003 draft. How many weeks is he out for? And do you think he will be in our best 22 by the end of the year? I think so.

he didnt do his hammy you clown...

Apparently Stanton pulled his hamstring slightly late in the game. I didn't see it, but a lot of people did.

He's not mentioned on the injury list on the EFC website, along with Rioli and Wellman, so maybe he will be right to play against Melbourne.

Premiership player? Woohoo!!!

Paul Hills was the most useless player to ever be part of a EFC premiership side. IMO

Yes he kicked a couple of great goals on the run thruout the season but he was very overrated IMO

To my dying day i will never understand how he can walk away from football with a premiership medal that year & Derek Kickett walked away from us with nothing.

It just strikes me as quite uncanny the way both Hills & Stanton 'move' on the field...............similar running, kicking, handballing skills etc.

Paul Hills

Thats a bit harsh to label Stanton the next Paul Hills.
I thought Stanton moved very well in heavy traffic with good pace, the only downer was his disposal at times but signs were good. We need his pace.
As for the best pick in the 2003 draft, I think we should wait and have a good look at the boys, especially Kepler Bradley.

And I find it quite 'uncanny'... no wait that's not the right word... ridiculous that's it. I find it quite ridiculous that you'd link the two. I agree with your sentiments about Paul Hills, but not about Stanton. His skills may not be very polished at this point but he's going to be a decent player. If I had to draw a comparison with a player I'd say there are similarities with a very young JJ. A similar lack of polish in skills but a real willingness to work hard and win the football.

Now this is not to be mistaken for me saying he'll be as good as JJ, just that I see some similarities.

Stanton shows signs of being far more creative with his disposal than JJ... Certainly a very clever player. It's the execution that's the problem.

With his execution is it just me or does he often kick on his wrong side ?

When he runs he looks like Robert Harvey i reckon. And yes, it is Brent.
