Obviously a top operator in what he does, but good to see his heart is in the right place as well.

I was milling around yesterday after the game with a couple of cat supporters I know, one of which is in a wheelchair and has been dealt a rough deal medically in recent years. Cook was obviously entertaining Brett Lee during the day and they were charging through the Hickey stand, likely on their way to some post-match function. Without being prompted, he stopped in his tracks to go out of his way to have a quick chat with my friend and introduced Lee (who was also very friendly) to her as well.

Obviously doesn't take much for him to do, but there's sill a few high flyers who wouldn't think of doing similar.

Bonus points for taking my jibe (said in jest), about getting some new lights down at the cattery, in the manner it was meant!

That's a nice story. Thanks for sharing it. :thumbsu:

He actually came into the Lamby's tent after the game, had a couple of beers and was happy to talk to anyone.

I love Cooky! :D

Its gr8 to finally see all aspects of the club working in harmony right now. Administration and positive onfield performances. It wasnt so long ago we were looking pretty icky after a decade of GF heart-break and a cool multi million dollar bank debt. Thankfully that has turned full circle.

I remember back in 2000 I was doing some voluntary work around the club (mainly data entry and stuff like that) and Brian Cook came in once and introduced himself (it was his first year at the club) to myself and a couple other volunteers, and had a bit of a chat with us. That was probably the highlight of my time doing voluntary work at the club. Well, that and when Billy invited a few of us volunteers to have lunch with him, Peter Riccardi, Stuart Fox and a few other staff members at Club Cats. :D

Does that make you a Free Loader, Winty? :)

After the Freo game I saw Mr. Cook in Lambys' Tent. I was tempted to grovel on the ground and beg him not to leave Geelong for the Gold Coast.

I am relieved that he is staying on at the Cats. A big part of the team that has dragged Geelong out of the slime of mediocrity.
