This is a non story, the fact that they're trying to make a story out of it is embarrassing.

More to it then found drunk, he was probably causing a ruckus/harassing other patrons.

Glad its not our problem.

Please. There is a difference between having too many drinks with his wife and friends, and 'causing a ruckus/harassing other patrons'. If we has still playing for us you wouldn't say that at all.

culture, that's what happens when you start hanging with Buddy and Co;)

dude probably 50% of the population get drunk in public, how often do all of those get slapped with a $550 fine, arrested and get thrown in the slammer for 4 hours?

How many of them play AFL? All AFL players have a target on their heads when they go out.

Nobody honestly believes that this a simple case of Brian and his wife being drunk and walking out side to get a taxi or whatever and the police decided to arrest somebody for fun. They must have been shit faced and they must have been causing trouble/or so drunk they couldn't get home so the police have to take them off the street.

Who cares ? Not me !

I do. I think it's really interesting on several levels. What sort of a couple get arrested together? The story must be a ripper! Is this a new thing for Brian and his wife? Has he been doing it for years while at the dogs? What sort of mind frame is he in to do that? What sort of mind frame will that put him in for the next season? Is this proof that the Dogs made the right call on Brian? Did he pass this sort of thing on to younger players? Were there any other AFL footballer there? Could any of his new or old team mates have helped out?

Just a few questions that it raises and why it's in the paper.

If you check out Adam Cooney's Twitter account (@adam0017)' it's clear that the Cooney's and Mart Pask attended the polo with the Lakes down at Portsea.

This is not to suggest that Adam or anyone else for that matter found trouble like the Lakes.

The age heading November 2012 Cooney joins Lake at the Hawks lets hope not

I can deal with the fact that he got drunk in public but the rumour I hear is that he was wearing boat shoes whilst drunk is a bigger concern :)
That's disgraceful. We were right to trade him. Should we hold similar concerns for Higgo and his diluted-red sweatshirt (see roughies london diary)

Ive been drunk many times in public (never arrested) so will not cast judgment over lake (although id love to cause I hate him for initiating his move away from the club.).

If he a life member ? 187 games - Gee I hope not.

He is a life member. 150 games to be one.

Obvious explanation to this.

After being at Hawthorn for a few months Brian has obviously shed those extra kilos that the Bulldogs allowed him to keep on over the years.

Having a much lighter body mass it only took 3 pots and a glass of red to turn him into a raging drunk.

But the boat shoes Libba39. Surely the Hawks leadership group need to take decisive action here and a censure is required. They have young impressionable draftees to consider. Could you imagine the damage a hawks jumper and boat shoe combo might do. Guidance is needed and a line needs to be drawn in the public interest.
