I think the media want us to bottom out too, all they ever talk about is St Kilda sliding, window closed...blah blah blah.
To be fair, I think most who don't follow us are sick of us and want to see some other teams fighting it out for a finals berth, or for a premiership. We have after-all been around the finals, or in flag contention, for the past 10 years (not having lost more games than we've won in any of those 10 seasons), so I can understand why those who don't support us would prefer it if we went away and let some other teams have a crack. They also don't seem to like seeing all the same old faces and would like watching us more if we had more yoof coming through for them to get excited about.

So I think we'll just have to mind our own business and do what we believe is in our best interests and accept the fact that we're not going to generate a lot of media or footy world excitement for probably the next year or two. I can live with that, as long as we keep on winning regularly, stay very highly competitive and keep on developing the younger ones, either in the seniors or in the VFL.

I'm really excited about this season and the unveiling of our youth over the rest of the season. We've now seen Wright & Lee. Simpkin is in this week to add to his game tally.

Over the coming season we should see in no particular order Murdoch, Saunders, White, Webster, as well as Ross, Dunell, Hickey & Ledger adding to their game tally. I'm not worried about whether we make finals or not - all I care about is that we bring effort each week and get games into our youth.

Loving the article in today's HUN. I for one hope Webster makes it as he has some serious skills!! And don't get me started about Spencaaaa!! :p

Given the youth that we have blooded over the last two seasons, and that we appear to be very committed to rebuilding this year, what does everyone think our policy on the youth is/should be?

From the young players we have Lee, Wright, Murdoch, Saunders, Simpkin, Ross, Siposs, Hickey, Dunell as well as one or two others. This is a few too many to play at once but for the most part they all appear worthy of getting a run for the experience and could all develop into valuable players.

Does the club this yea play those that warrant selection the most given their form or does it try to share the load around to try and get more experience across the board?

I think White should come in for Lee this week. It's another big stage, for a young kid - it's such a great way to start a career. Don't make a big issue out of Lee being dropped, just let him know he needs to work on his intensity and repeat efforts.

Think Lee could go either way at this stage. Looks like he's a few pre-seasons short looking at his strength, speed and intensity at the contest.

It sounds like Webster and Curren are the other 2 pushing for spots. Think Dunnell is too slight to be an AFL player. If you can't keep your body over the ball, you need to at least have elite speed or mark or disposal - don't see Dunnell having any of that. Good luck to him though. By all reports he's a good person to have around the club and can't have enough of those.

Dal "It is a dangerous word," he said of the 'rebuild' concept.

"How do I see it? Whether it's called rebuild or whether it's called fresh blood, it's needed. There is no doubt about that."

"In the past we have had a pretty solid, set team for quite a while and things have changed a bit and that's the way footy goes."

"At some stage you need new guys to come through and take some responsibility and that's happening."
