I haven't been to the Middle Brighton Baths restaurant but I'm familiar with the cooking style of the head chef Maurizio Esposito, who used to cook at Otto's (Wolloomoloo) and I think Cafe e Cucina in Chapel St. People have been raving about Otto's non-stop in Sydney; Cucina is a Melb Institution. I've eaten at the third of this triumvirate, Termini, in Fitzroy St, St Kilda.

the formula is pretty much the same - well executed Italian fare, unfussy presentation and great use of flavours, i.e. intensely flavoured olive oils, etc..

here's a review of the place by John Lethlean from the Age Epicure: http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2002/05/21/1021882043941.html

From his impressions, I gather that the service needs to be looked at, the wine list is so-so, the location is very pleasant and the food is quite good. Although being in Brighton, the fare will be quite conservative I think, with no surprises, and a quick look at their menu confirms this. $50 for 2 courses and coffee is quite reasonable for a night out, although if you add wine or dessert you're looking closer to $75pp, which is about CBD prices.

Your a dead set legend thank you very much.
