Hadn't heard of this before a mate sent me the link, a new FPS from Bethesda.

There's no former thread for Brink, it has been around for a while, but no mention on here.

I'm a bit iffy on it TBCH. The concept is great, the setting fantastic and 8 player co-op is insane.

But, the FPS gameplay looks poor. It's looks like it's going to play much like Mirror's Edge, you've got the parkour element to it that's expanded a little further to be a bit more intuitive and easier to pick up. But the problem is that Mirror's Edge worked horribly as an FPS and was a lot better as a FPAction game where you engaged in little FPS and more fisticuffs than anything else. So if it handles anything like Mirror's Edge, then I'll be worried.

On the other side of that though, I thought Borderlands would be a shit FPS as nothing I'd seen of footage looked mildly interesting. And this game plays on Borderlands features but expands and seems to flesh them out a bit more. It's got a similar art style, more character customisation and more co-op players (do I hear a massive BigFooty session?!).

Also Bethesda is publishing the title and they have class written all over them. Apart from Rogue Warrior and Wet they don't really bring out dud titles too often, granted those 2 titles almost more than make up for that...Splash Damage (the developer) seem to have a fairly adequate past history as well.

Certainly will be keeping my eye on it, but I do definitely have reservations.

Yeah I noticed the similarities with Mirrors Edge, however this looks to be only more in respect of movement (the sliding into cover looks cool) as opposed to the shooting mechanics (which were poor in Mirrors Edge)

I'm hoping, like yourself, that its more Borderlands than mirrors edge, but it certainly looks like a cross of the two

I'm still seeing the stiffness in shooting mechanics that Mirror's Edge had, with Brink's shooting. Not to mention the reticule is the exact same as well, never been a fan of the circular reticule either.

And yes, THREAD MAKING RAMPAGE!!!!

Seen the trailer for this recently and it looks very nice. It's due out at the start of next year so I'm keeping an eye on it.

EB currently have it for the 12th so I reckon that is close to spot on.

Strange that there's been zero marketing on this game, didn't even realise it was close myself, thought it'd be a late year thing.

May end up being a bit of a Borderlands situation, spreading by word of mouth (if it's any good of course).

Had it in the system for 19th of May, i'm guessing will be changed by tomorrow,getting in early might be a good thing

Has presold quite well considering the alck of marketing. WE have a two-way set up for this month and a couple of coming soon boxes and thats it.

Good call on the Borderlands sale side of things. Will garner some good word of mouth and be a sleeper hit.
 
I have kept an eye on it, and with Socom not being the game i was hoping for it has hit the radar i little harder than i thought.

Have been following this one for a while now, and like mentioned before its revieved very little coverage but looks to be an amazing game.

Have pre-ordered at jb hifi so will be getting the psycho pack as bonus content + a brink headscarf.

Already have a group of friends ill be playing with making our own little group, ill be playing as a light bodied Operative.


Game is a cross between TF2, Mirrors Edge and Counter Strike.
 
Would have thought RTCW: Enemy Territory would be the best description. At least I hope so, that's the only reason why I'm slightly interested in this game.

Unfortunately havent played it but it appears to draw on the popular aspects of alot of games, it will either be incredibly good or fall on its face.
