Do we go hard for Brock?
Just looks like a collingwood player to me, and exactly what we need.

Melbourne have 0 key forwards coming through, do we offer Reid and first round pick for him? not sure if it would be enough. for me, in a second:thumbsu:

People will cry that he is a captin in waiting, etc and he's attitude is bad, but he is a gun.

He can play in finals for the next 5 years, train at one ground (not the local oval) or can play for picks and servival.

Only thing now is getting him to want to come to collingwood, can eddy organise something there :thumbsu:

Just like Judd left?

read the other stuff,- money, big games, facilities, finals etc

we can get him, i can feel it, he will be at the pies:thumbsu:

This stuff is so stupid. When was the last team that achieved success by giving up quality players and draft picks for a top player at another club? Even when that player wanted to leave?

1. Draft and Develop your own players over time
2. Supplement occassionally through intelligent trading for young up-and-coming players or underperforming quality that fill a need (i.e. wood and medhurst)

Without having the bargaining power of first picks in the national / pre season drafts or an unusual circumstance that suits both clubs (i.e. two players desperate to return home) you are almost certain regret it on the highly unlikely chacne you pull it off. classic "winners curse" situation

It doesn't happen so much in the AFL, although you will find teams in the NBA have a huge success rate in trading in gun players to win championships. Having said that, they rely only on 5 players on the court, and therefore have more of an impact. Unfortunately the AFL system isn't set up in a way where clubs can really take advantage of trading in big name players. There is also no free agency in the AFL which makes it even more difficult.

Personally I believe that if we trust the people we have in place to take care of recruiting young talent, things will fall in place. Hine has already proven that he is capable of picking talent. Trading in established players only set us up for short term success - its understandable though, impatient Pie supporters would take short term success over none. But I say - Why settle for short term success when we can look into building a dynasty.

No way. He seem to slow and might get caught out in the next couple of years. To offer Ben Reid and a first round pick is an absolute joke. Wouldn't even give Ben Reid on his own. Geez it S&*TS me that people are so impatiant with Reid. He turned 19 about a month ago. Give him time for FFS.

Reid and your first round pick?
No. Reid is an unknown and your first round pick won't be a top 10.

We wouldn't trade him anyway. He's a future captain.

North Melbourne?

Totally agree.Forget maclean.we already have the makings of agood midfield.Wait till wellingham settles in,then we can introduce maccarthy and barham.I love the way barham goes about things has got a chris juddness about him especially when he runs.
If we want to pick up a strong middie look in the draft, may a good draft pick (midfielder) and cousens would be great.
Would love to pick up Rich he is going to be a gun but he'll go either pick 1 or 2.

Would rather him then Kerr both would be great but Mcclean is a very good player and only 22 or 23 GET HIM

like you said mclean is a "very good player"... Kerr is a superstar...
kerr is proven and IMO is a much much much better player than mclean.. he is very good in a poor team... would not improve that much at our club..
would be gutted if we gave up anything to get him... i want kerr...

I just want a big name player our club derserves to pick someone up its our time we have the best of everything

PSD = Cousins

and work from there Cousins will be easy to get thats if he wants to be at our club and people will say its not that easy if Cousins wants to come to Collingwood we have him couple of reasons

No Club will take a chance on him if his not 100% committed could lead to him becoming unhappy and going to his old ways

AFL will want Cousins to come back and be a success story so they can take all the credit on such a great job they did if they know Cousins wants to go to a club and isnt getting what he wants they on the low will have a few words to say to that club

As we have seen no one wants to be on the bad side of the AFL

McLean isn't leaving Melbourne. Comparisons with Judd are ridiculous, he was stuck on the other side of the country and wanted to return home, and change his name to "ka-ching" at the behest of Dick Pratt. No similarities there.

There is no chance of Brock leaving and there is no chance that the club would ever offer him in a trade. He is "Untouchable".

McLean is a 21 year old future captain who consistently gets huge amouts of the ball and uses it well, We would never trade him for an unproven KPP and pick 13 or 14(prosuming you finish top 4).
