Just checking out the Swans apparently in contention - obviously Goodes way up there.

However I am shocked that on sportsbet Kieran Jack is not even listed, meaning they consider his odds less than 1000 to 1. He is apparently behind Matthew Bate, Travis Johnstone and Paul Medhurst.

And from us he is behind McVeigh, ROK etc.

I just rang sportsbet and he is not even listed so they are contacting Melbourne to dig up some odds.

I just don't get it

Interesting. As soon as he gets on the books i might have a flirt. He will have pretty juicy odds i imagine.

Before the year i put 15 bucks on ROK at 101. Was pretty decent odds from where i was sitting. Won't go near winning it, but i was pretty happy with the value.

Goodesy will have his customary late season surge up the leader's table.

I put a bit on J Selwood at the start, would have got far better odds half way through the year.

I just saw a thread below questioning whether Jack is ineligible - I know he got a reprimand, but he is still eligible isn't he?

If he is I will post the odds when sportsbet publish them.

Yeh i'm not sure regarding Jack's eligibility.

Goodesy has come into $21. He probably won't get enough votes from the first half of the year to win it and to catch Swan/Ablett/Hodge etc. but some money on him to place might be interesting, he's at $6 for that.

I love this time of year. Love watching the awards like the Brownlow/Leigh Mathews Trophy/AA and then the finals. Best time of the year.

Malceski at 801. I am not saying these guys will win it, but if you use odds as a rankng, they are underrated, though Mal hasn't been so effective the last few.

Jack will be a pretty decent value bet to top the votes for the Swans.

Nah. Defensive midfielders don't poll well, and while the last third of the season has seen a fantastic offensive Jack, he was very much an "attacking tagger" at the start of the year.

Still, I'd like to see odds on him being the highest polling Swan.

i asked about Jack's eligibility in another thread but there was no response. My thoughts are that he is ineligible, because he is not in the TAB Sportsbet odds.

Didn't he accept a reprimand after going over 100 points, but reduced due to an early guilty plea?

Kieren Jack, Sydney Swans, has been charged with a level one engaging in rough conduct offence against Matt Suckling, Hawthorn, during the second quarter of the round 19 match between the Sydney Swans and Hawthorn, played at the SCG on Saturday August 7, 2010.

In summary, he can accept a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record with an early plea.

The incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a level one offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record.

A player only becomes ineligible if they get over 100 points (i.e. missing at least one game), don't they? If this is the case, unless they count points before an early plea, Jack should still be eligible.

Still what a season he had, but there's enough threads about that. It's a shame he will take votes off others when ineligible.
