Bruce Reid

What sort off player was Bruce Reid (and not the cricketer). Did he have good skills and what position did he play.

I think his son is going to be an awesome player to.

Bit of a plodder, and not sure how many games he played for the club.

He took over Ceneter Half Back when Perovic left in 84 85. He was a straight ahead type. Could only run in straight lines so was limited, fair mark and played well in the second half of one of those years. Once we recruited Dorotitch in 86, it was the end for Reid. Thats what I remember.

I also think he was one of the guys shipped up to Brisbane when they were first set-up.

Wheras Sydney came about by the relocation of South Melbourne, Brisbane was virtually started from scratch.

From memory every club had to ''donate'' 2 players to help get Brisbane off the ground.
Suffice to say the quality of the players sent from the Melbourne clubs was not overly high.

The Brisbane Bears Football Club was formed on 6 October, 1986, when, after a protracted battle, a licence for a Queensland-based club in the then Victorian Football League was awarded to a joint syndicate headed by businessman/actor Paul Cronin, the inaugural chairman, and the QAFL.
Christopher Skase bank-rolled the club via his company Qintex, and was the inaugural deputy chairman. Former QAFL general manager Ken Murphy headed the full-time administration, while ex-Hawthorn champion Peter Knights was the club's first coach.
The off-field football football 'team' included Shane O'Sullivan (general manager - football), Mark Maclure (assistant-coach) and Jim Sewell (football manager).

Shyte. That's why we offloaded him to Brisbane along with Grogan.

Games ..and highlights...you know how it is ..you tape a game and then fill the rest of the tape up with highlights and other bits and pieces
