Why would ess trade their best midfielder for another midfielder who is not an upgrade at that position? Bruce is a year younger so there isnt much difference.

And conversly why would melbourne want to get rid of bruce? Unless he wants to leave and in anycase if you did trade with essendon JJ would be off limits.

JJ is an in and under midfielder Bruce is a classy finisher. He would benefit Essendon's midfielder as the dons do not have any like him and lack leg speed. Melbourne have no in and under players so i think it would be a good swap.

JJ is our best inside mid and Bruce would be, imo, your third outside mid/flanker behind Yze and Travis Johnstone. Maybe even Green would be ahead of him. I rate him but i don't think he's worth JJ.

Wouldn't be overly happy though as MJ isn't exactly what we need.

For the last few years we have been using our first round picks or trading for a higher position. This year I would be happy to give up our first pick (late 1st round), and a player of the caliber of MJ. We have several tough players now and really need speed and polish which is what Bruce would provide. If that was the deal it is a win-win.
