Does any 1 know where i can get hold of some game footage of him from the under 18's. I want to see the reason we took him at number 1 and what sort of player he was there.
Cheers.

He never played U/18s - he was playing SANFL. Maybe you could contact the ABC in SA. Unless you mean carnival/state footy, in which case i have no idea.

I can tell you what sort of player he was though - a good one. Port Adelaide Magpies are a very physical, hard-at-it side and he kicked 6.1 against them playing on the ball as a 16 or 17 year old.

take a close look at his composure, desperation, tackling and decision making in the AFL and then you'll know why....

Gibbs needs to play on the ball. His got all the skills to make him become an elite footballer. His great at tackling, kicking, handball decision making, composure and is a good size already.

had something like 36 touches that day. Pretty handy

I don't see why you'd need to see any of those games to understand why we drafted him #1. Just watch our games- Its pretty obvious

I am not so sold on his decision making and composure at times. Whilst he can be great in all the attributes you mention above at other times he seems to lack in all of them. Hoping that it is just a confidence thing and that he will become consistently on top of his game in years or perhaps weeks to come.

the kid is what 19 mate and he does show those qualities better then many of the older more seasoned types, can see him being like a Heath Shaw from collingwood.

Bryce will be fine. Even take Friday night. Pressure kick in that 3rd quarter for goal, yet he went back and slotted it like good players do. You should keep in mind that Bryce could have played junior footy last year, therefore making him very bottom aged when he was drafted.

Nothing to worry about. He'll be a GUN.

Just get a clue! I suppose you would prefer a showpony like Dale Thomas who will build a career on drifting in and out of games and will only be up and running when the whole team is firing.

To start with I hate dale thomas.
What i want to know is was he midfielder in SANFL and if so what type of midfielder. Ie. Insider Like Black and mitchel Or a reciever like stevens and Johnstone. And if he was why are we wasting him down back.
Or was he a HB/BP like he playing now which would be his prefered postion (in that case that might be a worry)

In no way shape or form am i having a crack. I Just want to see what he can produce at his best.

...they are developing a kid who is only 19....the best place to do that is across half back to learn to be accountable......eventually he will find roles thru midfield.....patience patience!!

i.e Look at Joel Selwood, he hardly plays a key midfield role......but you can bet your last dollar he will become one of the best midfielders in the game eventually.

You will find most of the kids around 178 to 185 cms that are drafted probably play midfield roles in the U18 comp because they are streets ahead of most of the others.........(remember less than 10% of the competition get drafted).........but they will not necessarily be midfielders in the big time.

Not sure that his past positions played have much to do with where or how he plays today. He was considered the best available at the time and the controversy of him slipping through the father/son net made him even more of a fortuitous get.

Loved the look of satisfaction on his face when he slammed the sealer Friday night.

Ok so he was and will be a midfielder!

How is Gumbleton (#2 pick) & Hansen (#3 pick) travelling ATM. Gibbs will be a 200+ game player for us.
# 4 Luenberger going very well ATM, but we have Kreuzer
# 5 Boak not too bad, but Gibbs is way ahead of him
# 6 Thorp, havent seen anything to impress me just yet. Development is being tattered becasue of the Franklin and Roughead show
# 7 Selwood, gun player helped by being surrounded by other guns. We have Murphy so they cancel each other out
# 8 Reid, questionable foot skills, as a key forward you need to be able to finish. Malthouse is hurting his progression by playing Rocca ahead of him
# 9 Armitage, slowly getting into the swing of things. Will be a good player but very similar to Murphy so not missing out on much
# 10 Brown, We have Jammo & Bower so really no need.

Bryce is our 2nd youngest primary listed player. Even Steve Browne is older than him! He's still a 'baby' in football terms.
For him to be given the roles that he's been given already is mind blowing when you really think about it.
GUN! :thumbsu:

I think Muprhy's 13 round debut season set the bar unrealistically heigh in terms of our expectation of #1 draft picks and has made it much harder for some supporters to appreciate some of the young talent we have on our list.

Murph's debut season form was accentuated by our shortage of classy mids at the time. Now we have more talent and class out there and it spreads further across the playing group, making it harder for young players to stand out as much (especially with the Judd n Fev show usually taking centre stage).

..... Lucky carlton have...

Are you having a little hissy fit? lol. The Pies list is an imploding disaster - zero midfield talent, an O'Brien led defensive nightmare, and how-do-we-not-select-Rocca forward line crisis. 49 out 50 years of failure at Pieland was no accident it seems, and you're now on your way to yet another bottoming out and rebuild. It just dosn't get any worse. Looking forward to the next wave of Collingwood-failure-excuses. :)
